I could now see why Dally had a soft spot for Johnny,  he looked lost and sad. I wish I could just go up to Johnny and hug him, but that would be kind of awkward since we just met. Two-bit came back from the kitchen with two beers. He handed one to me. I already knew I was gonna like this guy. I sat down on the floor next to Two. I talked to him and we got along famously, we talked about how we both liked Mickey, beer was also a shared favourite. I explained to the gang that I liked getting in trouble and picking fights with Socs.

"Remember that time you fought off those four greasy broads, just with your fists?" Dally exclaimed.

"That was one of the most fun fights I've been in, not the most challenging of course, but fun," I remarked. I finished off my second beer.

"How did you guys meet anyway?" Soda asks.

"He was actually trying to pick me up, believe it or not. I fought him no doubt," I replied.

"She actually hit me pretty hard, broke my nose and one of my ribs. That's when I knew she basically a girl me," Dally said.

"Do you underestimate me, Winston?" I inquired.

"Not anymore I don't," he replied.

"Are y'all dating?" Steve asked.

I gagged, "No, god no,"

"Well then, Y/N, wanna go to the Dingo sometime," Steve said slyly.

"Not really," I reply flatly, taking a sip of the third beer Two gave me. Steve was a bit taken aback.

I stood up. "I'm going out for a smoke,"

"Dally, maybe you should take after her and go outside to smoke, instead of in the house," Darry said. Dally just grunted, I stepped outside. I was out there for a few minutes when Ponyboy came out. He pulled out a pack of weeds and lit one.

"What's a kid your age doing smoking?" I ask.

"Just got into the habit, I guess,"

"How old are you and Johnny anyway?"

"I'm 14 and Johnny's 16,"

"I thought you both were 14,"

"Johnny looks young,  but he doesn't really like that, he thinks he looks lousy,"

"He doesn't look lousy, but he does look scared,"

"A couple of months back he got jumped, by a guy with a lot of rings, he got cut up really bad. His parents don't treat him well,"

"Johnny seems so kind, why would anyone want to hurt him?"

"I don't think his parents wanted him or want him for that matter. They drink and Johnny gets the punishment, he still worries about them and I don't know why,"

"Poor Johnny, does he still live with his parents?"

"Technically yes, but most of the time he either sleeps in the lot or on our couch,"

I take a new smoke and light it, after a few minutes of silence Pony spoke up;

"Where do you live?"

"Sometimes in a spare room at Bucks, when all the rooms are occupied I stay with Dally unless he has a broad in his room, then I stay wherever I can find,"

"You don't have parents?"

"Nah, there back in New York,"

"So is that where you met Dal?"

"Yeah, after trying to pick me up and the whole breaking of bones incident, we actually became friends," I say laughing quietly. "I moved with him to Tulsa after he left the gang he was in, it wasn't the nicest place. I daresay I like the whole getting jumped by Socs better."

"What was New York like?"

"You should ask Dal, he has more insight."

I stood up and brushed off the back of my pants and stomped out my cancer stick.

"Nice talkin' to you Ponyboy," He smiled back at me. I walked back inside, someone had put music on...
