A few hours had passed. The sun was going down and a breeze had picked up. Nya was still sat on the top step of the Monastery, thinking. She didn't know how to feel anymore. This was the end for her. Kai had probably told the police by now and they were now on their way to take her to prison.

The easier option would've been to run. She should've got up and left. It didn't matter if she had no one with her. It didn't matter where she was going. She just needed to go and get out of sight. But she didn't move. She was the one who encouraged Kai to tell the police.

No matter how much she hated to admit it, her brother was right. She was being selfish. She was only thinking of herself again just like she always did. She didn't think about how Kai would feel when she told him the truth. She didn't think about how he'd feel when she swore him to secrecy. And she definitely didn't think about how Jay would feel when she broke up with him. Although, in her defence, breaking up with him was the right thing to do. She hurt him and he forgave her for it. She put him in hospital and he just wanted to forget it ever happened. She couldn't wrap her head around that.

She knew that Jay loved her. He'd told her himself multiple times. But she never in a million years thought he would forgive her for hurting him like this. Though she never thought she'd hurt him again after what happened with the love triangle. Jay was hurt after that, really hurt, and yet he still forgave her for it. That was his first mistake. Forgiving her.

She swore she'd never hurt him again. She swore she'd love him no matter what. The future reflection had lied. They weren't going to be together forever. Yes, they were good together, but not when Nya constantly hurt him.

Hurt.

Yeah, she was repeating it a lot.

Hurt... to cause pain or injury to another...

But this wasn't just 'pain' or 'injury'. This would affect him for the rest of his life. There would be a scar on his body... a scar that would never go away... a scar that she had put there. If that didn't prove how bad she was for him, then what would?

Kai, on the other hand, well she wasn't sure about him. He was the only family she had for so long. He practically raised her. He taught her everything. But there was one thing he hadn't taught her. Relationships. She didn't know how to work them. She didn't know how to act. She definitely didn't know how to treat her partner either. But she of course wasn't blaming this on Kai. This was her fault and her fault only.

She was worried that she'd lose Kai of all people. They did everything together. They were inseparable. But when Kai returned, if he would ever return, it would be the last time they saw each other. Because she not only hurt Jay but she also hurt her brother. She broke all the trust he had for her and she broke their relationship. She told him to keep quiet which only hurt him more. Kai was hurting. She may not have left a physical scar but she'd definitely left an emotional one.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't even noticed her brother wander back up the steps.

"Hey..." He spoke awkwardly in a hushed tone.

She didn't say anything. All she could do was glance back down at her hands. She had nothing to say.

"I didn't go to the police," He stated.

She looked up at him with a frown. After everything she'd done and said, why wouldn't he? She pracitcally told him to, right? Kai sat back down next to Nya in silence.

"What I said was-" He began.

"Right," Nya cut in quietly, "What you said was... right. I'm being selfish. I've always been selfish."

Kai sighed, "The reason I didn't go to the police was because... I don't want to lose you."

"I get that, Kai, but... I can't just continue my life without being punished. What I did was wrong on so many levels. I hurt Jay. I hurt him badly. And I need to be locked up for it," Nya told him.

"And you've learnt your lesson. Jay won't say anything to the police either. He forgave you, remember?" Kai reminded her.

"I know but that doesn't excuse what I did. It may have been a mistake but this isn't something that can just be forgotten about or forgiven for," Nya stated with a sigh.

"I'm not telling the police about what you did, Nya," Kai told her sternly.

"You don't need to," She responded.

"What do you mean?" Kai frowned.

"I'm gonna turn myself in," She told him.

"What?! No! If you do that, they'll lock you up!" Kai exclaimed, turning to face her properly.

"It's what I deserve. I'm sick of hurting Jay. And I've hurt you too," She replied.

"But I'll lose you..." He told her with a saddened tone.

"I know..." She sighed, "But you can always visit, right? And it might not even be for long."

Kai shook his head, "I won't let you throw your life away like this. You're my little sister. I need you."

Nya nodded a little, "And I need you too. But I have to do this."

"I can't do anything without you," Kai's eyes filled with tears.

Nya stayed silent for a moment. All she could think about was how she needed to be locked up for life. Kai needed her and she needed him. But sometimes hearts were just meant to be broken.
