Chapter 8 Prophecies & Explanations

Liam's Pov

There was already too much information in what James had just said. I had to take the time to adjust to all of it. I glanced over at the lads to see they were the same way. James and Eleanor sat there, watching all of our reactions calmly but nervously as well. I wasn't really sure how to react myself to be honest.

"Um what?" Louis said first, clear confusion laced in his voice.

"Ok, let me explain. The wisps go back to probably the start of time, we're not sure about that, but when they were awakened, the villians, which are the opposites of the wisps, were awakened too. The wisps represent good and they find five individuals who are pure and good at heart. These five individuals are the heroes who are meant to stop the villians," James explained, sitting up with his hands locked in his lap.

"How come we've never heard of the heroes before? Or the villians?" I asked because surely we would've learned about them if they were apart of our history.

"Well you see, the last heroes were born over two centuries ago. Since then many people have forgotten the heroes and their history but not us. There is a prophecy, of which I will explain too when we will learn about your powers, that effected one of the heroes. He was meant to die and before he could, he and his fellow heroes decided to sacrifice their bodies in order to seal away the wisps and the villians, preferably for a long period time. And they did. For a long time the wisps did not awaken for past generations. But now it seems that the seal the old heroes had put has faded away which led to the wisps and the villians to be awakened again. That's where you lads come in," James waved at us with a hand.

"So you're saying that these wisps, that are inside of us now, that gave us these powers, have chosen us to be heroes to defeat the villians?" Niall asked. It was starting to make sense to me but I'm still so confused.

"Wait, how come the villians haven't been stopped for good before?" I asked then because surely somebody would've defeated the villians before us. I mean like come on. And what is the Prophecy?

"Its because nobody knows how to defeat them. Over past generations my great grandfather and so on have been trying, researching for a way to defeat them for good. The thing is they are immortal beings that go into hibernation when they're sealed and thats what the old heroes have been doing since they can't fully defeat them. They are like wisps but in bodily form. They seal them until the next generation comes and the wisps choose the new heroes. We hope now with better technology and research from my family's old journals we could find a way," James stated firmly with determination.

"You say the villians are opposites to the wisps. What does that mean?" Zayn asked, wiggling from underneath me.

"Well that means to your power, there is a counter. There are five villians who have the opposite power than you. For example fire and ice. Or earth and air. Opposites that don't mix," James explained with a hum.

"What the villians names? Do you know?" Louis asked.

"Yeah we do know they're names and we've seen pictures in one of my great, great grandfathers journals. Their names are Matthew, Iris, Mala, Slin and Ashes. Though, we don't know who Ashes looks like. We can't seem to find a picture or description of him. Its only said that he is the most dangerous and is their leader," James sat back a bit.

Even though I had no clue who they were, their names still made me shiver a bit. They don't even know who Ashes is and that kinda unravels me a bit. I wonder how we're going to defeat them if the old heroes didn't before? Although I'm not sure if me and the lads want to be heroes but we'll see.

"Can we see your powers now? And then we'll get into more explanations after? I'm really curious as to what the wisps gave you," Eleanor buzzed, speaking for the first time as she let James explain everything.
