*Sofia's P.O.V.*

They're finally letting Niall out of the hospital today. We've been here for 6 days already and the doctors say that he's ready to go home, since he's had such a speedy recovery. I haven't left his side except to go back to the house to get new clothes and take quick showers, but other than that we've been confined to this little room for almost a week. His parents have been staying in the house and they come and visit every single day.

"Are you sure he's ready to go home?" I asked the doctor for what must've been the 100th time.

"Yes, I'm sure." He laughed.

"Petal, I'm fine. I promise." Niall reassured me, just like he had been all morning. I didn't want us to go home and then have something happen and not have the doctors on call to come and help us immediately.

"Okay." I answered, still not convinced.

Maura, Bobby, Niall and I piled into Niall's car, ready to go home. I was afraid of how Niall was going to react, given that the last time he was in a car he ended up at the hospital.

"Everything okay?" I asked him as I felt him tense up when I started driving. His parents had insisted that he should sit in front as a copilot since it was more spacious and he'd be more comfortable.

"Yeah, it's just..."He trailed off, and I knew exactly what he meant. I took his hand in mine, and continued driving with only one hand on the steering wheel, while the other kept tracing circles around his thumb, trying to calm him down, and letting him know that I was there for him.

He was tense and aware of his surroundings the whole ride home, bu other than that it went by pretty smoothly. As soon as we got home I helped him get out of the car and then handed him his crutches. He told me that he was already quite used to them so that it would be no trouble at all. I remember how he had to be in crutches for about a month in 2014 when he'd gotten the knee surgery before the Where we are tour.

"Did they tell you how long you'd need to use crutches?" His mom asked.

"I need to go back on the 20th and the doctor will tell me then. Hopefully I can ditch them before Christmas."

"Yeah hopefully." His dad responded.

"Make sure you don't stay on your feet for so long Niall." Maura continued when she saw Niall heading straight to the fridge.

"Yes please Niall. What do you need? I'll get it for you. You go and sit down."

"I wanted a glass of water."

"That's all? Aren't you hungry?" I was surprised.

"I am, but since I was planning on ordering something to eat I was only going to get a small slice of cake to go with that." He cheekily smiled.

"Okay, I'll get it for you." I said as I took the cake out of the fridge. It was pretty common for us to have cake in the fridge since both Niall and I were foodies.

A few hours later we finished having dinner with his parents. Niall had decided to order sushi since he informed us he hadn't had any in over a week and that he needed to eat some or else he was going to die. So dramatic, I know. His parents informed us that they were going to bed, and Niall and I proceeded to do the same.

"Should I help you go up the stairs?" I offered.

"Nah, I'm going to take the elevator." He replied nonchalantly.

"Wait, what? There's an elevator in this house?" I asked amused.

"Are you kidding me?" He laughed, thinking I was joking.
