Still The One (Niall Horan)

Chapter 3

~May 2021~

*Sofia's P.O.V.*

It's already been a month, Niall and the boys have been working really hard on the album and it's finally ready! I've heard snippets of some of the songs but I haven't heard all of them. The album launch party is tomorrow, but Niall snatched a copy of the album so that we can listen to it tonight and I couldn't be more excited. Today is also our 11 month anniversary, so I decided to prepare a little something for Niall. Since he's been at the meetings all day getting ready for tomorrow and finalizing everything for the promo weeks ahead, I had the house all to myself. I decided to set everything up outside, since the weather's been amazing. I decorated the lanai with sting lights, and I even cooked some lasagna. It turned out pretty decent, but that's only because my mom was guiding me through face time, otherwise I would've completely messed it up. I moved all of the patio furniture, leaving the wooden deck completely bare before decorating it with throw pillows and blankets. I also set the coffee table in the middle so that we could have dinner there, while sitting on the floor. I also added candles for a more romantic look and set up the computer nearby so that we could listen to the album. Just as I was finishing with the last touches I heard Niall's car enter the garage.

"Honey, I'm home." He announced.

"I'm outside." I hollered back before I heard footsteps approaching.

"Wow, what is this?" Niall asked when he saw the whole display I had arranged. 

"Happy 11 month anniversary and happy almost album release date." I told him before kissing him. 

"Thank you so much babe this looks amazing. Happy 11 month anniversary to you too. Can't believe we've been together for almost a year."

"Me neither, time flew by."

"Yeah, it really did."

"So, did you get a copy of the album?" I eagerly asked. I couldn't wait to hear it.

"Yes, here it is." Niall took out a physical copy of the album and handed it to me. It had a picture of the five boys and the name of the album on the cover: Back Home. It looked amazing and Niall looked so hot.

"Loved the cover baby. You look so freaking hot." And as soon as the words left my mouth I saw Niall's cheeks turn pink. So cute.

"Thank you petal." He responded all flustered. "So, you want to listen to it?"

"Yeah, let's hear it!" I responded excitedly as Niall popped the cd into the computer. The reason he had brought home a physical copy of the album was because they didn't want to upload it to the cloud where it could get leaked by the fans. Or the FBI as I like to call us, 'cause we were known for finding everything and the boys had already dealt with leaked songs before and they didn't want to risk it. A few seconds after Niall inserted the CD, the music started playing, and I recognized the first song, it was Hideaway. "Hey, i was there when you recorded this!" I exclaimed making Niall laugh.

"Yes, I remember."

"Okay, that sounded amazing." I spoke as soon as the song was over.

"Thank you." He responded before the next song started playing. 

"What is this called?"

"It's Pick Your Poison. Harry wrote this one." Niall explained.

"It sounds really good as well."

After another 2 songs played, Niall paused the CD.

"What is it?" I asked confused.

"I have a surprise for you." He answered as he took my hands in his, and I got all excited. I loved surprises.

"What is it? What is it?" I jumped up and down.

"I wrote the following song, and it has a really special meaning for me. It's about someone who changed my life completely and made it a hundred times better. It's about the missing piece that I didn't know was missing to make my life complete." And that's when it hit me, he had written a song about me. I couldn't help it, and I started getting emotional, I could feel a tear already rolling down my cheek.

"Oh my god baby, that's so sweet." I got all choked up and had trouble speaking.

"Don't cry petal." He started brushing the tears away from my face.

"They are happy tears." I reassured him. 

"I haven't even played the song for you." He laughed softly.

"I know, but it just means a lot to me that you wrote a song for me. No one has ever done that for me. Seriously, this is the best surprise ever."

"Well, you hadn't dated a musician before, had you?"

"No I hadn't."

"Then prepare yourself, because there are a lot of more songs coming your way. This is just the first one of many."

"Thanks baby." I rested my head on his shoulder while he pressed play, and the melody enveloped us. The song was amazing, the best song Niall had written so far, and I'm not saying that because it was inspired by me, it was truly amazing. I loved it, it described our relationship perfect and I couldn't believe that he had included it on the album. It meant a lot to me.

"So what did you think about the song?"

"It's perfect Niall. I love it, and I love you for writing it." I smiled at him, swarmed with emotion. I couldn't help but to lean in and kiss him. As soon as my lips touched his, sparks flew in every direction, and I could feel the world slowing down. It was a small yet warm kiss, filled with emotion. We pulled apart, our foreheads still touching. My mind was still processing the fact that he'd chosen to write a song about me and I still couldn't believe it.

"Are you sure you liked it?" He asked.

"Loved it I swear, no one had ever done such a romantic thing for me."

"You deserve to have thousands of songs written about you baby."

"You're the sweetest." I spoke in a hushed voice as I felt the tears making a comeback. "But wait, you never told me, what's the name of the song?"

"I named it after you obviously." He smiled at me while his eyes glistened with love. "Sofia." He whispered slowly to my ear, prolonging each letter as if to savor them. I smiled, my heart fluttering at his voice before I clasped my hands on either side of his face. Never before has my name sounded so wonderful, I thought to myself as I leaned in for another kiss. And the kiss was able to show Niall how I felt, how grateful I was to have him in my life, in ways that words would never be able to.
