The loud noise of our boots echoed as Bellamy and I rushed down the hallway. We continued to follow the horrific scream from Fox. Maya followed us, trying to keep up. She had told us we were getting close to the bone marrow harvesting station. I saw Fox's feet reach the doorway of the station. "Right there," I said, pointing down the hallway. I grabbed my gun from my holster while Bellamy ran in front of me. We approached the doorway, Fox stared at us with fear in her eyes.
I hovered my pointed finger over the gun and shot the two men behind our friend. I took my helmet off, followed by Bellamy. Fox's eyes widened as she saw the sight of us. She smiled, running over to Bellamy. She brought him in for a hug and turned to me. I was taken aback by the strong grip she had. I smiled, rubbing her back in a comforting motion. Fox let go of me and stepped back to look at Bellamy and I.
"Are you okay?" Bellamy asked. Fox nodded in response, she glanced back at the two dead guards. I put a hand on her shoulder and turned her around to look at Bellamy, Maya and I. "We need to get her somewhere safe," Maya said from the doorway. I nodded, linking my arm with Fox. I pointed my gun at the ground as we walked towards Maya's quarters. There were surprisingly no guards in the hallways. We soon arrived at the residence, before Maya hovered her card over the reader she turned to us.
"Let me go in first," she said.
She stepped through the door, motioning Bellamy to hold the door slightly open. I felt Fox's grip on my arm tighten as we waited for Maya to tell us everything was clear. "Oh! Dad, I didn't know you were here," I heard Maya say. Bellamy looked back at me with a look of concern, Fox did the same. "Drill bit broke again," the father replied. "Come on," Maya said, opening the door.
I put a hand on Fox's shoulder as Bellamy and I led her in. I closed the door behind me, keeping my gun in my hand. Maya's father looked between her and Bellamy, Fox and I. He jumped up from the couch and glanced at his daughter. "They're in trouble, they just need someplace safe," Maya claimed. "They need to go now," Vincent said, walking over to the door. Maya followed him and stood in front of the door, blocking him from leaving.
"Let me explain," Maya said.
"Do you want to explain how you got those two uniforms?" Vincent said, looking back at Bellamy and I. We glanced at each other then looked back at Maya's father. "Maya," he said, "You know how dangerous this is, what are you doing?" His daughter sighed as she lowered her head. "Its what mom would've done," she said, looking up from the ground. "You need to go now," Vincent ordered as he looked back at my friends and I.
"Sorry, we can't do that," Bellamy replied. "That's okay, he's going to help us," Maya said. Vincent looked back at Maya with a look of disagreement and disbelief. "Really?" I retorted, "Because I'm not really getting that vibe." Maya sighed and looked back at the three of us. "My parents were part of a movement that was against using outsider blood. My mom refused the treatments and it killed her. She was willing to die for what she believed," Maya explained, keeping a firm eye on her father.
"Maya, you were five," Vincent said, "I couldn't leave you alone." Her father put a hand on her arm, she shook it off and glared at him. "I'm not a little girl anymore," Maya said. Bellamy, Fox and I watched as they two bickered. "They're willing to kill you to get them. If you get caught-" Vincent said, but was interrupted. "We won't if you help us," Maya interjected. "Please," I joined in, "They're killing our friends. Fox doesn't have anywhere else to go." I looked back at Fox, pulling her in front of me. Vincent ran hand over his face and sighed. "Fine, just for one night," he said, resting his hands on his hips.
Maya looked at her father with relief in her eyes. She looked back at Bellamy, Fox and I. Maya waved Fox and I to follow her. Bellamy put a hand on my shoulder, stopping me from following them. "I'll be fine," I said, I kissed his cheek before following Maya and Fox.
