Ch. 20

As Ella sat there holding Skylar's hand, she heard footsteps running down the hallway of the hospital. Standing, she walked to the door only to see Hunter running towards the room with Mai and Nik right behind him. He was still wearing his black jeans and black tank top. Ella held up her hands as he finally reached the doorway. He stopped as he tried to catch his breath.

''How...how is he'' Hunter asked with worry in his voice.

Ella smiled as she turned back and looked at Skylar ''The same as when you left two hours ago'' she looked back at him only to spot blood on his cheek and neck ''Yours?''

Hunter shook his head ''No'' he said looking down.

''Will he ever come back'' she asked, raising a brow.

''No'' Hunter looked up at her ''He will never come near any of us again.''

She nodded as she reached out and pulled him into a hug ''Thank you'' she said softly ''Thank you.''

Hunter hugged her back tightly then pulled back ''Can...can I go inside'' he asked.

''Of course'' she said, moving to the side.

Hunter slowly made his way inside. As he walked in, he tried his best to fight the tears back when he saw Skylar laying there. He stopped at the foot of the bed and just stood there looking at him. Many things ran through his head as he looked at him. There were many things he wanted to say to him as well, but he didn't know where to start. Letting out a deep sigh, Hunter placed his hands on the end of the bed as he hung his head.

''How long do you plan to stand there like that'' he heard someone say.

Looking up, he saw Skylar laying there looking back at him ''You're awake'' he said, smiling softly.

Skylar nodded gently ''You look like shit'' he said laughing a bit.

''So do you'' Hunter replied.

''Hunter about what happened'' Skylar started to explain till Hunter held up his hand.

''Stop'' he said walking over to the side and sat down in the chair ''You don't need to explain.''

Skylar turned his head to look at him ''I'm sorry'' he said ''I should have said something before hand.''

Hunter moved closer and took his hold of his hand ''You did what you could to protect Mylo. So you have nothing to apologize for.''

He nodded again as he looked at him ''Why is there blood on your cheek and neck'' he asked.

''Umm'' Hunter turned away so he didn't have to see it.

''Don't tell me'' Skylar said ''I don't want to know.''

Hunter nodded looking back at him ''Ok.

For a few moments Skylar and Hunter just sat there not saying a word. When Hunter saw Skylar trying to sit up, he stood and helped him but when he moved to sit back down, Skylar reached out and grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him close.

''What's wrong'' Hunter asked worriedly.

Skylar looked over his face for a moment then shook his head as he let go ''Nothing'' he said smiling ''It's nothing.''

Hunter nodded as he sat back down. He wasn't sure what was going on in Skylar's head but he was worried. Skylar just sat there as if he was spacing out due to being in deep thought. Soon Mylo came running in to see Skylar. Hunter smiled as he lifted him onto his lap, but it didn't last long as Mylo ended climbing onto the bed. While Mylo spent time with Skylar, Hunter got up and walked out into the hall where everyone else was waiting.
