Kate's POV.

Intro.

Have you ever had everything that you wanted. Well I did. Absolutely everything. My parents owned one of the most important business companies in the world. Princeton Industries, they work with models, actors, celebrities of all kinds, making them who they are and giving them fame and fortune. I've meet most anyone who's anyone.

But that all changed on the week of my 18th birthday party. I was born in December, but living in California there's no snow. So my 'friends' and I decided to 'self-plan' a garden themed party. How were we to know that, that would be the last time they saw me?

As I said before everything in my life was going great, I lived in sunny California, had a big house with two amazing parents, and I absolutely loved my life. I couldn't imagine another one. The only thing I wish I could change was the fact that I had night terrors. They started when I was about 12 and have continued to get worse as the years go on. I have medication for them, but even that is starting to become ineffective.

So this is where our story starts; me...having another night terror. This is how it went - I was running through the woods, faster that I thought was physically possible for me. It was exhilarating, feeling the wind rush through my long dark hair, dancing behind me as if it were my shadow. The woods were dark, too dark, I kept stepping on sticks and almost running into trees. The bushes and little brambles pricked at my skin making it itch as if there were little insects under my skin.

But, I knew I had to keep running knowing that once I stopped something was going to get me. Kill me, rip me to pieces and suck down my blood. I quickly glanced behind me to see if my assailant was any closer to me. I couldn't see anything through the dense fog that permeated my vision, but I could hear the gruff voice of something coming towards me. Swinging my head around I was greeted by a tree branch, I fell, landing on my back, hitting my head on a stump of a dead tree, making the world spin.

My heart pounded like crazy and I could feel the warm blood crawl down the side of my head and onto my face. But before I could react, two dark shapes appeared and hovered over me with a kind of animalistic curiosity. One in the form of a dog, the other in the form of a man, any normal person wouldn't have been able to reach me that fast, even if my attacker was close.

The man bent down and touched the spot where I had hit my head, gently at first, caressing the side of my face and then digging his thumb deep into the wound, pressing down hard, making sure that I felt every inch of the white hot pain. It burned, I had never felt anything more painful in my entire life, it made my whole body buck and writhe with pain. I couldn't cry out, as he pressed down on my throat, cutting off my wind supply. I saw the dog lean down with it's massive jaw open and I felt it's teeth cover my head and bite down, slowly, making every agonizing second worth its while and inflaming my senses.

*************

I screamed, sitting up swiftly, I quickly grabbed my head to made sure that it was still there.Once I was satisfied that my head was on. I felt the spot where the wound was, lucky there was nothing there, but it had felt so real I had to make sure.

I let my head fall back onto the pillow and closed my eyes, as soon as I was comfortable my alarm when off. Letting me know that the morning was here and would only bring with it expensive coffee , drama, and homework. I would never get any sleep at this rate, I was better off just taking caffeine pills all night.

Rubbing my eyes I threw my tired body out of bed and into the shower. As I prepared the shower I was only half asleep, but as soon as the hot water flowed down my skin I was vividly awake. I only had one hour to get ready before Regina came and picked me up. It wasn't like I didn't have my own car, in fact my parents bought me my dream car for my 16th birthday, but Regina insisted that we ride in her car, because that way everyone would know that we were above them. Regina was one of my closer friends, but I still got the feeling that given the chance she would stab me in the back without a second thought.
