"Can't you just loosen up a little?"

Jay asked Sunghooon.

"I mean, getting good grades is important but you're missing out man!"

Sunghoon looked up from his desk where he was studying and saw Jay who was lounging on the couch in Sunghoon's extensively large room.

"I don't think I'm missing out on much."

Sunghoon replied as he looked back down at the calculus question he was solving.

"I know your dad is pretty tough, but you could literally date anyone at our school. I mean everyone thinks you're some god or something."

Sunghoon didn't look up. What Jay had said was right. Sunghoon got asked out almost on a daily basis, but he just didn't see the point. All the girls and boys that liked did not interest him at all. All he wanted was to keep his position as first in his year at Sky High School to get into his dream colllege - Big Hit University.

'Well...'

Sunghoon thought to himself,

"Not exactly my dream, but a dream nonetheless."

"Oh, I heard that we're getting a new student that's transferring to our school tomorrow."

Sunghoon paused what he was doing. New students were not common in Sky High School - it was an elite school only for students who were either super rich or super smart.

Jay noticed that he had Sunghoon's attention, or at least part of it and continued,

"I heard he was coming in from Australia."

Sunghoon froze.

Australia?

Sunghoon stared blankly into the air as soon as he heard that word and didn't hear what his friend was saying.

'Could it be?'

Sunghoon had trained himself not to get his hopes up. He had grown up in a strict environment where excellence was taken for granted. There was no room for sentimental wondering, but it was too late. Before he knew it, a memory surfaced in his head. Something he hadn't thought about in years.

...

Crash!

5-year-old Sunghoon had tripped and crashed into a fence. He felt a burning sensation on his head and felt tears rapidly forming in his eyes.

He tried to hold it back, but he found himself crying on the ground.

He couldn't see because of the tears rolling from his eyes, but he heard someone running over.

"SUNGHOON are you okay??"

Sunghoon felt warm hands on his shoulders and felt a sensation of security wash over him. He wiped the tears from his eyes and looked up at to see a pair of kind brown eyes looking at him with concern.

"Are you okay?"

He felt warm hands traveling from his shoulders to his head where he had bumped into the fence. Sunghoon couldn't help but lean in closer.

He felt safe and secure as if all his worries were disappearing. Sunghoon closed his eyes and the world around him faded and the pain in his head was replaced with a warm feeling spreading from his chest.

...

16-year-old Sunghoon shook his head. He couldn't afford to waste time thinking about what was or what could've been. He looked back down at his studies and continued on as Jay endlessly talked about what he hoped the new student would be like.

Sunghoon focused on the pages, but a part of him couldn't help but wonder...
