The rest of the week passed by so fast it was almost unbelievable. While Slytherin wasn't hosting anymore parties, that didn't stop the amount of craziness in the common room. Almost constantly people were saying their goodbyes and trying to soak in any last time they had with their friends before summer started, and it felt as if I was the only exception.

Ever since the news about the dark lord, I felt myself going insane trying to keep it all in. I wanted to tell Draco, but ever since our fight at the party, we hadn't really been on speaking terms. It wasn't as if we were ignoring each other, it was more just like neither of us knew what to say. Both of us thought we were in the right, and neither one of us wanted to admit defeat.

Daphne and I mostly just sat outside and stayed in the sun. If she wasn't with me, she was practically throwing herself at Theo, but she seemed happy. He was finally giving her the attention she deserved and I was truly happy for her. Everyone else seemed to be having the best time of their life, and I felt extremely out of place because of it.

I was sitting on one of the back couches in the common room as I waited for our prefect to give us our instructions. Tonight was the final feast before we would get taken home for the summer, and first years had to figure out how to do everything before we left. As the room started to fill up, I saw Draco enter and look around the room for a spot to sit before he landed on the empty seat beside me. He sat down without another word and the two of us sat in an uncomfortable silence.

"Listen up first years." Our prefect shouted from the fire place. "I'll get to the packing in a little bit, but first I wanted to congratulate you all on being apart of the house that won the house cup!"

Everyone in the room immediately erupted in a series of cheers, Draco being one of the loudest. I quickly followed, jumping up from the couch and cheering along with all my friends. I know winning the house cup might've not seemed like a huge deal, but to Slytherin it was. All year people 'boo' and hate us for wearing the colors green and silver, but just once we get to show we're so much more than what's seen on the surface. I know we have a bad reputation, but it's times like this that allow the real us to shine through.

"Ok, ok, settle down, we'll celebrate more tonight. However, before any of you are allowed at dinner I want all your belongings packed and ready to go for the morning. I don't want to hear any last minute scrambling tomorrow and I want us to be the first house on the train, understand?"

All of us nodded before he released us. I started to move towards the staircase to my room before Draco's voice stopped me.

     "Em, hold on."

     "What's up?" I asked him.

"Come on. We've never gone this long without talking. I understand that I was wrong for assuming you and Fawley were flirting, but I haven't heard the best things about him and I was nervous, okay."

I sat back down on the couch as I gestured to the spot next to me. Draco quickly took the hint and sat right beside me, waiting for my reply.

"Look Draco, I love you more than anything, but you have to realize I can live my own life. I learned that Fawley was a dick, but I did that on my own. I love that you're looking out for me, but I'm not just gonna be another one of those people who you push around. You have your whole posse for that, and if you think I'm gonna stand for you bossing me around you're wrong."

"I get it, okay." He sighed. "It's just hard. I don't want you to get hurt."

"If I get hurt than that's on me. You're not going to be able to prevent every single hardship in my life, ya know."
