"Defense against the Dark Arts with Lockhart." Draco announced as we walked through the hall.

"Yippee." I said back, sarcasm boiling over.

Every girl in Hogwarts seemed to be fawning over our new teacher, but honestly, I didn't get the appeal around him. He had a stupid smile and his stories seemed incredibly fishy, but no one else wanted to question it.

As the two of us walked through the hallway, Draco stopped as a cruel smile spread onto his face. I followed his gaze and landed on the familiar sight of the people we hated the most: Potter, Granger and Weasley. As I was about to stop him from causing mischief, I quickly backtracked my mindset. It was time that they got a taste of their own medicine.

"Signed photos? You're giving out signed photos, Potter?" Draco laughed as we approached them.

Harry's face flushed with red as an eager first year stood happily by his side. By the look on his face, I knew he was embarrassed at the interaction, but something inside me couldn't stop the words from flowing out of my mouth.

"Everyone line up!" I shouted. "Harry Potter is giving out signed photos!"

A few people around us began to laugh, but I felt a pang of guilt in my chest as Granger looked up at me. The two of us couldn't classify each other as friends, but neither of us had gone out of our way to embarrass each other. She looked at me with big eyes, almost saying 'what are you doing?' I quickly averted my gaze away from her and back to Potter. Why did I care what some mudb... muggle born thought of me?

"Shut up Malfoy's." Harry said as he stood up to become face to face with Draco.

"You're just jealous." The first year piped up.

"Jealous?" I asked with a scoff.

A crowd started to form around us, and people were silently picking sides. A few of the older Slytherins started to gather behind us, and a group of Ravenclaws moved over towards Harry. No one dared to say anything, but I could feel everyone waiting for it to escalate. As I was taking in the mood from around me, I was brought back to the scene when I heard Weasley say:

"Eat slugs, Malfoy."

"Weasley would like a signed photo, Potter." Draco started. "It'd be worth more than his family's whole house -"

Ron quickly grabbed his wand from his pocket which made us follow his motions. If only a few more seconds had passed it would've been a full on fight, but our attention was pulled away by Hermione's quiet voice.

"Look out!"

We all stoped immediately at the sight of Lockhart walking our way. I didn't find the man the least bit intimidating, but I knew better than to fight in front of a teacher. As he approached us with his stupid smile, I pulled Draco away at the sight of Lockhart draping his arm over Harry's shoulder. The two of us tried to control our laughing until we were out of earshot, but the moment we were, we erupted.

"What a tosser." I joked as we made our way to the defense against the dark arts classroom.

The minute the class started, I knew I was in for a long year. We started with a test about Lockhart's entire life, and ended it by being attacked by pixies. I was still trying to brush down my hair as we bounded from the classroom, making our way down to the basement.

"Guess what?" Draco said as we approached the door.

"What?"

"I got on the quidditch team." He beamed.
