The bustling life of the platform made my head whirl. Everywhere you looked people were running around and saying their final goodbyes to their parents before the beginning of the school year. There was a mix of emotions ranging from excitement to nervous to happiness, but I couldn't concentrate on any of that. Draco and I stood with poise, waiting patiently for the trains to arrive. While other people were running around with their friends, we were told to behave ourselves and keep up the perfect front. A part of me was grateful for this, because I didn't really know if I was up to be in playful mood anyways.
"Listen here you two," my father started "when you get on the bus, find Crabbe and Goyle. They also come from a long line of slytherin descendants, and I wouldn't want you to get tied up in a bad crowd on the first day. Embry, maybe finding the Parkinson girl couldn't hurt. You'll do great this year, and make sure to carry on the slytherin line."
Draco gained a wide smile as he nodded his head. There was no doubt in my mind he would be a slytherin, I just wish I could've had the same confidence about myself.
"Embry, head up high." My mother chided in.
I did what I was told as I turned back around to face the train tracks. After what felt like hours of waiting, I heard the distinct noise of a whistle as the whole platform exploded with cheers. Both Draco and I abstained from the outlandish behavior, which earned us a grateful smile from our parents. The minute the train stopped, Draco pulled me on without another goodbye to our parents.
"What's the rush?" I asked, rubbing my arm where he had pulled.
"We're showing our superiority. Best seats on the train for the best twins around. We wouldn't want a mudblood to sit where we should."
I hated when he used that word. I wouldn't say blood status didn't interest me, but I didn't think it was ok to use that word. We had grown up with the belief that we were the best due to our blood, and even though I knew it was wrong, a part of me had started to believe it. Maybe not that we were better, but that we were the purest brand of wizards, but I wouldn't allow myself to look down on someone just because they didn't have the same privilege.
Draco pushed past the other first years as we made our ways to the carts at the back. When we arrived, we were the only ones there and I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"Put this up." I told Draco, shoving my bag in his direction.
He rolled his eyes, but he did as I said. He threw our luggage above us before we sat down at the small table. Not even a minute later, the door blasted open, and 2 boys who I knew were named Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle entered. Draco jumped up with an evil smile on his face as he said hello to them. I rolled my eyes at his eagerness to follow our fathers rules. I found the two of them annoying, but apparently our fathers were friends.
"Hello gorgeous." Goyle said as he sat next to me.
"Home alone." I said to Draco.
He looked up between me and Goyle and saw the little amount of space he left between the two of us. Home alone was our code for 'uncomfortable', and I knew he didn't take that lightly.
"Switch seats with me, Goyle."
"What, no! I want to sit next too..."
"Now." He commanded, making everyone at the table jump.
Goyle quickly moved to the other side of the table while Draco made his way to sit next to me. Goyle seemed to be red in the face, but I didn't care. I was glad Draco was sitting next to me instead of him.
