NEW TEXT MESSAGE
From: hinataboy
Do you and Mya want to watch a movie with us?
In the common room?
___

Us?
"MYA!" I yell, taking my AirPod from my ear. I hear her footsteps approach my room a moment later.
"Yes?" She asks. "Did your boyfriend text you?"
My eyes roll back. "Do not call him that." I warn, ignoring the hopefulness in her voice. "Hinata invited us to movie night."
Her eyes light up and I can see a plan laying itself out in her head. "Movie night with..."
"He said 'us.'"I tell her. She immediately screams in excitement at the thought of Kageyama being in attendance.
"You have to say yes!" She demands. I stare down at the text again while my head ravages with potential scenarios of how tonight would play out. A stupid bubble of excitement fills my stomach before it is hastily replaced with frustration.
"I can't. My pride won't let me. I don't even want to see him after he was so cold when we got back." I tell her dramatically although ultimately coming to terms with the fact that she will indeed convince me to say yes within the next two minutes. She gasps and grabs my phone from my hands before I can react. After a second of me trying to fight back, I give up and let her finish sending the message, knowing deep down that I do kind of want to spend time with the confusing setter boy.
She hands me my phone after a couple moments with a cocky smile on her lips before twirling out of my room. "Get ready!" She sing songs. My eyes roll back as I stare at the message.

We're so down! What time?

Hinata was already typing back.

...

"I really don't like scary movies." Mya tells Hinata as his fingers move over the Xbox controller. The five of us are packed on the couch in the common area. By five, I mean me, Mya, Hinata, Tsukishima, and Yamaguchi.
Try not to let the disappointment burn a hole in your heart like it did mine.
Tsukishima, who acts like he doesn't want to be here, sits at the farthest end of the couch, his long legs sprawling across the cushions. I sit between him and Yamaguchi. Mya is already snuggling closely to Yamaguchi as Hinata settles on a title. Mya and Yamaguchi, in the short couple weeks of knowing each other, have developed a sort of sibling bond. It's kind of freaky.
"I've heard this one isn't even that scary!" Hinata tries to calm her nerves but due to the transparency that leaks from his words, I can tell he's bluffing. A smirk crawls onto my lips at the thought of how the rest of our movie night will play out.
Before I can allow myself to feel too happy, a frown returns at the fact that a certain love interest of mine failed to make an appearance though...
"Hey, where's Kageyama anyway?" Mya asks. I shoot her an annoyed glare, already knowing her intentions behind the inquisition.
Hinata rolls his eyes at the thought of his roommate. "He's being a butt and wanted to take a nap." I nearly scoff at the explanation. My brain immediately jumps to the conclusion that he simply doesn't want to be around me. No one else in this room knows that though.
After more excited chatter and Hinata's handing out popcorn, the movie begins. I'm not going to lie and say the hairs on the back of my neck and arms aren't standing at the slight fear that has infiltrated my mind due to the horror movie Hinata decided on: Hereditary.
The beginning of the movie isn't that scary. Creepy, but there doesn't seem to be anything that would make me take refuge in Yamaguchi's arms. Mya, on the other hand, was already curled up under his arms, completely occupying his attention.
"Scared yet?" Tsukishima asks me quietly when the first whisper of paranormal activity appears.
My eyes glare at him. "Not yet." I say honestly, although unable to hold true to that statement as a jump scare sends me flying towards him.
"I didn't sign up to protect you." Tsukishima says, insensitively pushing me away from him. My arm rears back before swinging towards him. He catches my hand before it can land on him and moves his body farther away from me. My eyes turn back towards the TV just for another haunting moment to rattle my bones. Mya screams, only furthering my fear.
"Tsuki, please!" I screech, panic surging through me in search of some sort of comfort. My hands are covering my eyes and ears as I tuck myself into his side. I feel him sigh against my body before an arm comes to tuck me underneath it. As soon as I realize he's going to let me stay, my fingers part, allowing my eyes to land back on the large TV.
"I didn't know you were such a wimp." He coos teasingly. I want to defend myself but my mouth stays closed when the main character starts screaming. Suddenly, a light illuminates the side of my face. When my eyes peel from the horrific scene unfolding on the screen, they reach Tsukishima's phone screen. His fingers aimlessly scroll through Instagram.
My eyebrows furrow at his disinterest in the movie. "Tsuki! Don't you know it's rude to go on your phone during a movie?" I whisper to him, not wanting to bother any of the other viewers. His eyes meet mine almost disinterestedly but I can see they hold a hint of amusement with my conversation. Our faces are close. I almost back up but his lack of attention to our proximity makes me lose the urge.
"Don't you know that I couldn't give less of a shit?" He smirks.
My chest tightens at the look on his face and my stomach flips slightly. Due to this reaction, I force myself to look away from him before replying. "You're an ass." That is all I can come up with.
"I never claimed to be anything different." The blonde replies.
A smirk crosses my face at the feeling of his arm around me in instinctive protection and I immediately come up with a witty really to knock him off his high horse. "But hey, at least you're nice enough to hold me during a scary movie."
He realizes his arm is still around me and I watch redness light up his cheeks. His arm immediately contracts back into his side. My mouth drops open in surprise, causing a smile to poke at his lips.
"You've lost your privileges for being a smart ass." He tells me. I scoff before grabbing his arm and placing it against the back of the couch behind me so it's a little less intimate. He doesn't argue but flicks me on the forehead with his other hand. I let out a laugh as I hit his hand away from my face. I will admit, I enjoy it when Tsukishima lets me see his playful side. I feel like he's so reserved that I never get to see this part of him.
After our short conversation, his attention is pulled back to his phone. As I turn my attention back to the film, I realize my back is just barely pressing against the left side of his chest. Although my body heats at the thought of our position, the comfort I feel forces me to take refuge against him.
As I rub the red mark on my forehead, a small giddy smile crosses my lips. At the reaction, my mind slips into a new thought.
Does Tsuki maybe like me?
