Kageyama's arrival to the table makes my drunken heart inflate in excitement. My happiness is short lived at my own reminder. Not to mention he refuses to look at me. Hinata on the other hand, is smirking at me, obviously amused by the new addition to the circle.
"Okay, I'll go first." Saiko smiles, turning to Misaki. The right-side hitter blushes slightly as Saiko whispers into her ear. Her brown eyes scan around the table at the guys before deciding on her answer.
Her finger points at Tanaka. "What's your name?"
"Tanaka." He answers surprisedly.
She nods to him. "Yeah, Tanaka." She covers her eyes with her hands as she waits for Saiko to flip the quarter. Saiko does so, uncovering the coin on her finger before announcing the result. Misaki lets out a breath of relief as Saiko reveals the head on the coin. Tanaka lets out a groan at that, causing the majority of the table to laugh.
We go around a few more times until it is my turn to be asked a question. Karina turns to me and hesitates before asking the question into my ear. "Out of everyone at the table, who do you think would be the best in bed?"
I try to keep my eyes from widening at the question.
The question itself is simple, but I could go one of two ways with this. I could say Kageyama and pray to God that I don't have to say the question, or I could say Tsukishima to drive paranoia into the asshole of a setter. Either way is sure to attract his attention. Now that I think about the question a little longer, I wouldn't mind sleeping with either of them. I shake the thought out of my head.
"Tsukishima." I decide smugly. Kageyama takes a sip of his drink to hide the look on his face. God, he's so transparent. I smirk to myself at his reaction before turning my attention to Karina who throws the coin up in the air. My eyes pass her and land on my previous beer pong partner, who has an amused smirk on his face as he stares at the drink in his hand. A slight panic settles in my chest at the thought of having to tell everyone the question.
Karina lifts up her hand, revealing tails. My hands immediately move to my face in surprise. Oh shit.
"Wait, Hinata!" I call for him before Karina can expose me. "Can't I take a shot instead?" A couple of boos are heard from around the table at my pussying out but I ignore them as Hinata nods. He grabs the vodka off of the table and pours it into a nearby blue shot glass. My face cringes in disgust at the idea of having to take this, but I want to let Kageyama's imagination run a little longer. I take the drink between my fingers and throw it back, the feeling of liquid running smoothly down my throat. My face twists in disgust as I reach for my chaser: a mikes hard lemonade.
The extras in between me and Kageyama answer various questions, but I tune them out until Pyper leans towards Kageyama's ear. She's a little too close. My possessive thoughts nearly make me roll my eyes. It's not like he's mine anyway.
He ponders the question for a moment, eyes looking over the girls at the table. I can't listen. I immediately regret saying Tsukishima's name earlier at the thought of him doing the same to me with some other girl at the table. My confidence from earlier abandons me.
"Maihua." He answers. I can feel numerous sets of eyes on me as Pyper flips the coin. I can't deny the anxiety that fills my being at the question. Knowing Kageyama, I don't think I want it answered, especially after using Tsukishima's name in my answer.
"Tails." Pyper announces. Kageyama shows no signs of taking a shot to get out of the question so she continues. "My question was who do you think is the most likely to get cheated on."
When I say that was the last thing I was expecting, that was the last thing I was expecting.
I don't know if it's because of the alcohol in my system or how unexpected the question is, but I can't help but let out a laugh. At my reply, I can tell that the rest of the table feels a sense of relief.
"That's a good one." I chuckle amusedly although I feel my teeth grit at the audacity he has.
God, what an asshole.
The game continues on lightheartedly. I feel the alcohol settling in the longer we play. It's catching up to me, fast.
"Okay, I'm done playing. I can't drink anymore." I announce, dismissing myself from the table. Hinata tries to beg me to stay, but I find myself getting bored. "Plus I have to pee!" I argue further. Hinata finally gives in and lets me go, allowing some other girl to take my place around the table. Besides, the only two people I care about answering the questions are Tsukishima and Kageyama. If I were to continue playing, the more dangerous it would get for me.
My feet move me upstairs, wanting to take a break from the basement atmosphere and clear my head.
When my body leans against the sink in Daichi's bathroom, I can feel the dense fog in my brain. A giddy smile escorts itself onto my lips at the pure bliss I feel right now. This is the best I've felt all week. I let out a content sigh as I take a few more moments to myself.
I don't know how long I stay in the bathroom, but after a few more moments, I feel myself wanting to get back to the party. Maybe I should flirt with Tsukishima some more in order to hop further onto Kageyama's nerves. The devious thought brings a smirk to my lips as I reach for the handle.
My hand pushes it open and to my surprise, someone is waiting for me.
"What was your question?" Kageyama asks hastily as soon as I take one step out of the bathroom. My eyes land on him confusedly. My question? Oh right.
To toy with him a little more, I act oblivious. "What question?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Maihua. Just tell me." He demands. I attempt to step past him, but his hand catches my arm. My eyes land on his hand before trailing up to his angry face.
I fake surprise on my face. "Oh, the one during the game." I act as if I just now remembered. "I can't tell you that! Those are the rules."
He licks his lips in anger and turns his head away from mine exasperatedly. "So I was right about Tsukishima then?" He employs a different tactic to get me to speak. At his incorrect conclusion, I pull my arm from his hand.
"No." I immediately deny it. "Would you drop that?"
"Well you chose him, didn't you?" He rolls his eyes. I lean my back against the bathroom door as our argument continues. "You choose him for everything it seems like." He adds, probably thinking back to our beer pong game.
My chest fills with exhilaration at the possible meaning behind his inquisition. "Hang on." I pause, allowing him to look at me frustratedly. "Is that... Jealousy?"
His eyes roll back at my accusation. "Of course not." He lies easily. I'm not done though.
"I mean, that's what it sounds like to me."
He crosses his arms in annoyance at my persistence. "Well, it's not. Don't flatter yourself." My body fills with a slight rage at his petty stubbornness. Why can't he just admit it? Instead of asking him that, I decide to play the disinterested card. My body shakily walks forward, in a direct line toward the door.
"Stop bothering me then." I tell him as my hand reaches for Daichi's door handle.
Before I can pull it open, Kageyama's hand pushes against it. My anger catches up to me due to the lack of defense I have thanks to my intoxication.
"Would you just tell me?" He begs angrily. My hand attempts to pull the door open again, wanting nothing more than to let him ponder the possible reasons for me saying Tsukishima's name.
In one swift movement, he pushes my back against the door, stopping my attempt to escape him. With his other hand still on the door, he traps me between his arms.
At our closeness and the frustration building up inside of me, I decide to hurt his feelings in the best way I know how. "She asked me who I think would be the best in bed."
His face drops at my sudden admittance. "What?" I see his jaw clench.
"I only fucking said it to make you mad." I admit before I can stop myself. Heat crosses my cheeks at the vulnerable position I put myself in so I decide to add something that puts him at fault for once. "But hey, at least you were truthful in your answer, right?" I throw at him.
At his sudden surprise, I take it as my chance to escape into the hallway. He doesn't follow me.
I manage to make it to the basement without any interruptions. My eyes look for my brother. After a few minutes, I spot him talking to Suga on the couches in the living room.
"Hey, Daichi. Can someone take me back to the dorms?" I ask.
His eyebrows furrow as he checks the time on his phone. "It's not even one yet. Are you okay?" He asks like the concerned brother he is.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I wave him off although not meaning it. "I just don't want to drink anymore and I'm feeling really tired."
Suga steps in. "I haven't had anything in a while so I'm good to drive her." He tells my brother. Daichi nods and tells us to be safe. I follow Sugawara towards the main kitchen where he pulls his keys out of the drawer. As soon as we get outside, he bombards me with questions. "What's the matter? Did something happen? Did you and Mya get in a fight?"
The night air fills my lungs and I feel myself already sobering up. "It's nothing. I just don't want to be around-"
"Suga! Are you going back to the dorms?" A voice asks from behind us.
You have got to be kidding me.
