I throw my towel onto the back of my desk chair, intending for it to dry as I ruffle my wet hair out.
The last couple of days have been absolutely dreadful.
I know you're probably wondering about what happened between me and Kageyama on Monday night. It's too bad that the overwhelming humiliation I feel refuses to let me spill what happened after I asked-no begged him to kiss me. Just thinking about it makes my entire body cringe in embarrassment.

His lips moved closer to mine and I felt my breath hitch, choking on the want in my throat.
Tch. God the asshole made me beg.
"What was that?" He had asked me. A smirk took hold of his lips. He was staring down at me with condescension.
The heat that resided on my cheeks only burned brighter at the words. "Tobio..." I had whispered stupidly, falling right into his trap. His lips were a mere two centimeters from mine. I could feel the heat of his breath on my face.
I should have known that I was losing when my eyes fluttered closed.

There I go again. Thinking about it when it was the last thing I wanted on my mind.
I mean, the audacity that boy had!
The anger that I feel towards him now is unmatched: greater than it ever had been. My desire to kiss him disappeared with his taunting voice. Dumbass.
He had just walked away.
The last sliver of dignity I had forced me to retreat from the room as fast as I had arrived. That's how the night ended.
I lie on my back as I stare at the ceiling. I plunge my head into my pillow as my mind uninvitedly runs through the scenario again. My lips part in a sigh as my face heats.
Tomorrow is my very first real college game. I had spent the entire week occupying my attention with film and practice, wanting to devote my time to volleyball instead of an insignificant rude boy. We're playing some shitty private school that I don't care to remember the name of. They were awful. We are going to blow them out of the water tomorrow, but I still forced myself to sit through hours of their plays this week in order to keep him off my head.
Still, he manages to creep in any chance he gets.

...

"Got it!" I call, my body easily passing up the chance ball. My pass flies through the gym towards Mya who pulls off a setter dump to switch up our plays. Caught off guard, the other team fails to retrieve it, earning our team the match point.
This game was even easier than I expected it to be.
"Nice game, ladies." Coach calls as we huddle. "I know it wasn't the hardest team we've played, but it's some good practice before we start playing harder teams next week." She drawls on about our upcoming game and I manage to focus on her words until the very last one leaves her mouth.
"Looks like your man made an appearance." Mya mumbles to me after one of the seniors breaks us out.
My eyes follow her line of sight until they reach the devilish beauty that is Tobio Kageyama. His eyes are focused on something across the gym, allowing me to stare at him for just a moment longer without fear of getting caught. From what I can tell, the majority of the boys' team sits near him as well. "He's not my man. I told you I'm not talking to him anymore."
"Come on!" She calls exasperatedly as our heads duck into the locker room. "You can't just give up after one embarrassing moment!"
I frown at her as I lean down to untie my shoes. "I'm not used to rejection, Mya. I will not chase after a boy who doesn't cherish me."
Her eyes roll at my dramatics but she can't argue.
"Well, maybe Daichi's get-together will get your mind off of it!" She says in an attempt to lighten my mood. I shrug as I pull the hair tie from my long hair.
My mind reminds me that Kageyama will likely be there. I mean, both teams were invited, along with some of Daichi's other friends. "You mean his party, and you're forgetting that Kageyama is most likely going to be there."
"Flirt with Tsuki then! Make him wish he didn't swerve your kiss!" Mya advises. My entire body cringes at her blatant reminder of my shortcomings and the face I make shows her how much I hated that statement.
"I'd rather not be anywhere near him." I tell her, although pondering the idea. Flirting with Tsukishima would be counterproductive. I still don't even understand my opinion nor any feelings I may have towards the tall blonde so flirting with him to make Kageyama jealous would likely worsen the situation for all sides.
She grabs my arm and tugs it as if she were a child throwing a temper tantrum. "Well, you have to go because I'm going to make my move on Asahi tonight." I attempt to argue but being the good friend I am, I realize I'm going to have to take one for the team and make an appearance. For her sake only.
Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

...

"Tsukishima!" I call drunkenly. The blonde whips his head around, eyes landing on me after a few moments of searching. I wave him over obnoxiously to get him to oblige.
His eyes are slightly glossy and I can tell by his willingness to obey me, he is slightly drunk. "What?"
"Will you be my partner in pong?" I ask, giving him my best puppy dog eyes.
As expected, he denies. "Why don't you play with Yams?"
"He's not as good as you are!" I attempt to drag him in. He rolls his eyes and turns away slightly as if he's searching the basement for someone else to take his place. My hand drags down his arm until it tugs on his hand. "Please, Tsuki." I plead, knowing that my sudden physical contact is likely to turn his attention to me.
His eyes glance down at my hand before landing on my face. "Fine." He complies. "One game."
Before he can stop me, my arms throw themselves around his neck in thanks. After a moment of surprise, his hands reach around me, patting my back awkwardly at the seemingly random embrace. "I owe you, Tsuki!"
The night has gone on with no hiccups so far. Mya is still on mission Asahi and is talking to him in the kitchen for as long as she can keep his attention. And due to his secret interest in her, it could be all night. Across the table from me is Hinata and another girl from my team named Saiko. I whooped their asses last game when Nishanoya was my partner, but he ran off to chase Tanaka.
We've been here for an hour now but it feels as though the night is just getting started.
After about ten minutes, me and Tsukishima have hit nearly all of the cups on the other end of the table. When my partner manages to sink the last cup, I force him into another hug. This time, his drunkenness allows him to give in and wrap his lanky arms around me before his mind tells him not to. I feel my face heat up at the grip he has on my waist.
"Tonight is just not my night!" Hinata shrugs. Saiko bursts into laughter at his obvious lack of talent when it comes to this game.
I pull myself away from Tsukishima before I can allow myself any more selfish moments against him. "Hinata, you just suck at this game."
"You might be right." He admits, blushing. His eyes travel past us and into the kitchen. "Hey! Do you guys want to play a drinking game?"
I agree without hesitation, tugging Tsukishima's hand and leading us into the kitchen. Mya looks up from her conversation with Asahi and her eyes widen knowingly at me and Tsukishima's intertwined fingers. Her eyebrows wiggle which causes me to roll my eyes. I let go of his hand immediately.
"You guys want to play a drinking game?" I ask the pair of them. Asahi tears his gaze away from my friend before putting a hand on the back of his neck awkwardly. He denies but I guarantee within the next couple of minutes, Mya will change his mind.
Soon enough, a couple of others join us around the large kitchen island. Hinata dives into the game's explanation, earning every set of eyes as he speaks brightly. We decide on a game called Paranoia.
"Okay so for example if I go first..." Hinata begins. "I would turn to Saiko and ask her a question involving people at the table. She has to answer out loud so everyone can hear her. Then I'll flip a coin. If it lands on heads, she's safe. If it lands on tails, I get to say the question to the whole group." A smirk crawls onto his face. "If someone says your name, you drink."
Saiko's eyes widen. "What if I don't want you to tell the question!"
"Then you have to take a shot." He shrugs simply.
My eyes travel around the table, taking in everyone who decided to join: Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, Hinata, Nishanoya, Tanaka, Saiko, a couple of others from my team, and a few of the boys teams' female friends from class. Instead of convincing Asahi to join, Mya managed to slip away with him. I can't say I'm mad at her though. At least she gets the guy she wants.
I frown at my thoughts. It's not that I'm not happy for her, I just wish my luck would be as good as hers.
"There's not an even number of guys and girls!" A pretty blonde pouts as she counts the members around the table.
Hinata's eyes scan the room. His face brightens a moment later as he decides to invite someone else to come play. "Kageyama! Come play! We need one more person!"
Ah, shit.
