"Next time I see him, I'll make sure to thank him for putting you back on the market." Kuroo glances at me flirtatiously out of the side of his eye. I hit his arm immediately at his insensitivity to my breakup. "Not really, I'm actually going to kill him."
My laughs come out in spurts.
This is exactly what I needed.
"What time does the GPS say we're gonna get there?" Hinata asks. Kageyama looks down at Daichi's phone which rests in the middle console before turning his head around to the couple in the middle seat.
His eyes catch mine before he returns his gaze to the redhead in front of me. "We still have an hour and a half. Now stop asking." Since entering the car, the raven-haired setter has been quiet, barely joining conversation unless it is directed at him. It's not like I expected him to be talkative as it is, but his attitude seems to be colder than usual. Typical.
"I said what time, not how much longer." They begin arguing about the difference causing me to roll my eyes at the incessant disagreement between the two.
"Can I nap on you till we get there?" Kuroo asks innocently. "Kenma made me stay up with him last night for this new video game drop and I only slept like four hours."
Instead of answering right away, my hands pat my lap in a gesture to get him to lay his head there. "Go ahead." He obliges and shifts around, getting comfortable in my lap before closing his eyes. A second later, his hand reaches up to grab mine, pushing it into his messy black hair in an attempt to get me to run my fingers through it. I chuckle lightly before giving in. A coy smile crawls onto his pink lips while keeping his eyes closed.
After watching him for a few more moments, my eyes tear themselves away and fixate on the scenery outside my window. Due to the lack of conversation now, this is the first time I care to tune my ears to the music playing quietly from the speakers. I hear a terrible rap song by Kevin Gates playing. My face immediately scrunches.
"Your music taste really is shit, huh Kageyama?" I ask. Daichi glares into the rearview mirror at my sudden instigating voice. Kuroo chuckles in my lap quietly.
Before Kageyama answers himself, Hinata decides to add his input "I told you. It's awful."
"Stop teaming up on me. Go back to minding your own business." Kageyama says harshly. His eyes dart over to the driver, gauging his reaction to the harsh words that just escaped to attack his younger sister and the short middle hitter. Daichi doesn't say anything so Kageyama's shoulders soften in relief.
"Can you play something else?" I continue to prod. The rude setter ignores me and turns his eyes towards the window. My eyes roll back in annoyance as another terrible song erupts throughout the car.
To spite me, I'm sure, he leans back towards the middle console and wraps his long fingers around the volume button, shifting it slightly to the right. He turns it up just enough to not incriminate himself, but loud enough to where it's noticeable.
"What did you do to make him hate you so much?" Kuroo smirks in my lap, noticing the slight increase in sound. I hit his head lightly with the hand that's tangled in his hair.
Kageyama's eyes meet mine in the mirror, waiting for my answer. I gaze right back. "Absolutely nothing."
