Finally! Ella could see the roll-up style door just a few feet in front of her, which meant freedom from this place. They had picked up a few more wolves, or well, men, along the way, and it had felt like forever, but they were finally here. Just a few more feet.
Ella only made it a few steps when there was a flash of black to her left, and then the biggest wolf of them all stood in front of her, teeth bared and bloody. He looked like he had been in one hell of a fight. His fur was wet with blood and dirt and foam dripped from his mouth.
Fear gripped her as she wondered who he had hurt in return. Immediately Thannus stepped in front of her. "Kruse, your rein is over. We are no longer your pack." Thannus stood tall, and Ella who was still concerned for her friends, was proud of him.
"Abandoning me for a human? What riches did she promise you, because she is just a weak human with nothing to give. She will lead you right into the dragon's lair, where you will be slaughtered in masses." The black wolf growled.
"I promised them freedom from you. And I will follow through on my promise." Ella stepped forward, though a little fear tugged in her chest. "Promises mean nothing to a wolf. If I remember correctly, and I know that I do, you promised to break my neck, yet I smell your fear. Are you afraid little human, because you should be."
"I do not fear you. I only fear for the safety of my dragons and for the wolves you are slaughtering today." Ella knew who the wolf was now, and she was determined to kill him.
"My wolves, my pack. I will see to it that they pay for their betrayal." His growl was louder. "And if you are waiting for your dear blue dragon, he is laying in a heap outside. He will probably be dead by the time you reach him. Right alongside that orange dragon that I burned with my laser. I will kill all of them, after I finish with you and this traitorous bunch." He stepped closer to her, but she did not move.
"Not as long as I stand." Thannus stood taller, putting himself between her and the wolf. "Then let it be known you will be the first to die." The black wolf laughed. "Not today." Samuel stepped beside Thannus. "You will have to go through all of us to get to her." Another voice came, before the sound of bones cracking.
In just two heartbeats, she was surrounded by a dozen angry wolves, snarling and snapping. "Looks like your pack has changed its loyalty." Jake said, still holding her hand. "They were a useless bunch of muscle anyway. I will kill them all off once I have my red dragon." He laughed.
"You will never have my dragon!" She raised her gun and fired three shots, all hitting their target, but he just laughed. "Silver bullets. Nice. Who gave you that my dear? One of my traitors? No matter, I will take them all!" He roared, but before he could move, the garage door was ripped off and there stood a black dragon. Allan.
"Allan!" She gasped as she watched Kruse turn. "A black to add to my growing collection." He growled, but before he could react, the wolves attacked from around her and she stood in horror as fur and blood flew from the fight. Other wolves joined from nowhere and Jake pulled her back.
"Let's go." Jake pointed up the stairs and she looked across at Allen who was also pointing to go. However, something inside her knew she could not leave this. She had to stop it. This had to end. She must save the wolves.
"STOP!" She yelled and nothing. Then a burning started in her chest and she closed her eyes. "STOP IT NOW!!!" She yelled as loud as she could, and the walls rumbled, before silence fell around her. Every wolf in the bunch turned to look at her.
Her body was warm as she looked over the group and she was not sure what was happening, but she felt it was right. "This is madness. You are killing each other for a madman. Do you all even know what you are fighting for? These are your brothers, your own kind that you are tearing apart, and for what, because some big black asshole of a wolf told you to?" She put her hands on her hips, causing a few wolves to look around.
