Ragnar could still feel the warmth of the human's embrace even now as he waited by the door for her. What was taking her so long? It felt like the sun had been up for hours already, even though he had only slept for a few hours.

Last night he had flown to her window again, for a quick check to make sure she was ok, but he ended up watching her sleep for a solid hour. She had looked so small in that bed, so fragile, yet he knew just how strong she was. And while he watched her, that inner voice had called to him to go to her.

The voice felt familiar, but he did not understand what it was. He knew it, yet it was foreign and weak. He was not weak. And he was not going to listen to some stranger tell him what to do. He was not going to go to her. She was human.

Then his body made him pace. He could not lie, he wanted more than anything to feel her hands on him again. He bet they were soft, but his skin was too tough to feel more than the pressure of her hands, and the warmth, her warmth, nothing more, but even that was good.

"We could. You know this." The voice echoed in his head, but he shook it off. "Stop talking to me." He grumbled to himself. And before the voice could speak again, a tingle started at the base of his spine, but no matter what he did, he could not make out the feeling. Something tugged at his mind, and he knew there was a reason, but he could not figure it out. Frustrated, he started to take off, but he saw the human walking towards him, a large silver dish in hand and a bright smile on her face, and nothing else mattered.

"Wow." She whispered as she came close, her eyes enlarging and a scent of something different floated to his nose. "What?" He gave her a sideways look. "Nothing." "You said wow." "Did not." "Human, I have superior hearing. I heard you say wow." He looked down his snout at her and watched her cheeks flush pink.

"Fine. I said wow." "Why?" He lowered his head to see her face better. "Because you look...different. Good different. Like, I don't know, maybe like a flawless ruby different now." "A flawless ruby?" He was confused.

"Yes, you know, all clear and perfect. You are like shimmery today." "Shimmery?" Ragnar was trying to understand her explanation. "Yes. The light is almost reflecting off you, like brighter, more vibrant than before." Her words were honest, and part of him wanted to roar with joy, but he kept his head on straight.

"Human, have you lost your mind?" "Yeah, I think I have. This week has been pretty life changing. Anyone else might have gone mad by now with all this stuff. I mean, I am hanging out with a dragon you know." She gave him a look, making him laugh. She was funny.

"Give me the pancakes and then we can work on these questions." Ragnar held out his hands for the tray. "I thought food was not the way to get what I want?" "If they are half as good as the brownies, you can ask all the questions you want." He took the tray and peeled back the foil top with a talon. They smelled delicious.

"Ok. I was thinking about sitting in the yard, in the soft grass and talking in the sunshine. If that is ok. I want to know all about you." The human stated as he ate. "Ok." He said through a mouth full of pancakes. She had made them supersized, so he could easily take them out of the pan. She was incredible.

"A+ again." He put down the tray. "Thank you. Now, follow me." Ragnar did as she requested and walked behind her, feeling like a happy little puppy following his owner. Damn human. He did not like this at all, but then she smiled over her shoulder and he forgot all about the grumpiness.

"Sit." She said and he growled. "I am not a dog human." "And I did not intend it to sound that way." She sat on the grass, and when she patted the space next to her, he sat with a huff. After taking off her backpack, she took out a notebook and pen and adjusted herself before looking up at him.
