"Oh, buddy do we have a problem." Sal walked back into Ragnar's house. "What? Is she ok?" "I think you might have a situation on your hands." "What? Me? Why? What did she say? Does she hate me?" "No, just the opposite." Sal laughed, but his mind was spinning with all the possibilities.
"Why was she crying? I heard her crying." "She is upset." Sal explained. "Why?" "Why don't we sit? There is a lot going on here and I am having a hard time processing it myself." Sal motioned to the couch.
"Tell me why she cried!" "Fine. She is worried that she is going to lose you to the female shifters." Sal watched his friend process the information as he paced. It was clear that he was just as concerned about Ella as she was about him.
"The females, I forgot." He groaned. "Yeah, well, there are two beautiful shifters in the house. Both are royals, and of pure blood, and did I mention gorgeous? Liv is wanting you to meet them tonight." Sal looked his friend over and shook his head. This was not going to be easy.
"A royal for me? A pure blood to carry on my bloodline." Ragnar was excited. "Yes, but, then there is Ella." Sal offered. "She is not a shifter." "No, but I think...she is so...damn this is hard." Sal blew out a breath.
"What is it?" "She loves you." Sal put it out there and was met with only silence. "Did you hear me?" Sal asked. "Yes. But Liv found a pure blood, that is more important than a human." Sal's blood suddenly boiled at the thought of Ragnar turning her down.
"Seriously, after all that she has done for you, this is what you will choose? Look at yourself, I mean really look, she did that. You would have never found your way back without her." Sal snapped.
Sal started to leave, then stopped. "You gave her your blood, and it is changing her, and now you are just going to toss her aside? You are unbelievable." Sal opened the door and then stopped again. He tried to stay calm, but this was Ella.
"The new alpha wolf wants her. He said if you did not claim her, he would. I am beginning to think she might be better off with them." Sal slammed the door and then heard a crash of glass behind him. Screw him.
The closer Sal got to the house, the worse he felt. Ella was going to be crushed and there was nothing he could do about it. Well, he could claim her for his own, couldn't he? No, that would be too hard on her. Maybe it would be best for her to go. She should go to the wolves. They would care for her. Yet his own heart ached knowing that meant she would go away for good.
"Sal, great, I was looking all over for you." Allan stopped him in the kitchen. "Sorry, was out back with Ragnar." "How is he?" "Just fucking peachy. He is excited that there are two pure blooded women here for him to chase." Sal felt sick just saying the words.
"Wait, what about...Ella." Allan whispered her name. "He doesn't give a shit now. He is all better, he does not need her, does not need anything. Hell, he can go get himself a pure blood now and continue his bloodline. That is all that matters to his selfish ass. Allan, she is going to be..." Sal stopped when he realized Ella was standing there in the doorway, holding her notebook.
"Ella." Sal reached for her, but it was too late. She dropped the notebook and ran towards her room, but he was not fast enough as she slammed the door. Sal laid his head against the wood and heard her crying. Yep, she was crushed.
"Ella, please, can we talk?" "No need." Ella called back. "Ella, he was talking out of his ass." "Doesn't matter. I am just a human anyway, right? You all need your kind to breed." "Ella, please." "Go away." Sal waited, hoping she would come to him for comfort, but she just laid in there and cried.
Sal returned to the kitchen and Allan was looking at her notebook. "She hates us all now." Sal ran his hand through his hair. "She will be fine." Allan nodded. "Allan, she is devastated." "She will recover." "You think? She loves him. That is not going to be easy to recover from."
