"I know you are here silly dragon." Ella's words brought him out of his daze. How long had he been sitting there? Ray stretched and looked to the window that was pink with the morning light.

"I just came in to give Liv a break. I will not stay if you do not want me too." His voice was horse as he spoke, and the words stung with the knowledge that she might tell him to leave again.

"No, stay. Please." She moved her arm from the blanket were it rested, and turned over her hand. Was that an invitation? He felt so timid with her now. "Take it." She whispered softly, her eyes still closed.

Ray gently took it in his hand and warmth immediately spread through him in a way that calmed him like nothing ever had before. And then she smiled. Just as sweet as she ever had. Again, he was struck by just how perfect she was.

Everything about her was just as it should be. Ray only wished that he had not hurt her. It was never his intention. He should have just told her the truth right away. His Dragon was so unsettled right now and before he knew it, he had opened his mouth.

"Ella, I am so very sorry." He tried. "Shh. I am still sleeping and having the most wonderful dream." Her voice was so soft and heavenly. "May I ask of what?" Ray hoped. "I am running through the field of white lilies." "Alone?" "No." "Who is with you?" "My dragon." Her smile widened as her hand tightened on his.

"Is he happy?" Ray swallowed the lump in his throat, fearful of her answer. "He is." She turned her head toward him and opened her eyes briefly. They were bright blue and still heavy with sleep, but they were focused on him, and she looked happy.

"Hi." She smiled sweetly. "Hi." He took his other hand and ran the back of his knuckles down her cheek. Her skin was so soft and he would never stop wanting to touch her.

"How long have you been here?" Ella whispered. "All night." "In that chair?" "Yes." "Bet it was uncomfortable." "Did not even notice. I was too busy watching over you." His smile had taken over his face as he watched her struggle to stay awake.

"Did Allan tell you what the doctor found?" Ella's soft voice held so much wonder. "Yes." "Funny thing. I guess my wish to be dragon came true." "Why would you wish that?" Ray felt a small chuckle escape.

"Then I could be with you." Her eyes opened again and she looked right at him causing his heart to race again. "And my second wish was for you to be human, so you could be with me. Guess someone answered both those wishes." His heart literally exploded in his chest at her words. She was so incredibly perfect.

"Ella." He pulled her hand to his lips as tears collected in his eyes. How could he even tell her how he felt. She was his entire world already and he had to find a way to show her.

"I am not sure how all this works, but we will figure it out. Thank you for watching over me." Her eyes flutter shut again. "Always." He nodded, the lump getting bigger as he worked to suppress the emotions inside of him.

"Ray?" "Yes?" "Will you lay with me? Just tonight. I am cold and a little lonely." Her words were getting softer, like she was losing herself back to sleep. "I would be honored too." He choked back the tears. "Anything for you my love." He added. "Good." She let his hand go and scooted to the middle, holding up the blanket for him to crawl in.

It took him all of three seconds to kick off his shoes, tear off his shirt, and slide in next to her. He pulled her small warm body to his and wrapped her in his arms.  A soft sigh left her lips and then she nuzzled into his chest.

"I feel your happiness." She smiled against his bare skin. "You have no idea how happy I am right now." "I think I might." "Shh. Just go back to sleep. I will protect you." "I know. And I will protect you." Her arm wrapped over his waist and her hand laid on his back bringing him a thousand more sensations of pleasure.

"Goodnight Ray." "Goodnight Ella." "Human." She giggled. "Tiny dragon human." He clarified and she giggled again. "No matter what you are, or are not, I love you Ella." "Good." She exhaled again and he kissed the top of her head, then he felt her eyelashes flicker before she drifted back off to sleep.

This was the single best moment of his life. He had her in his arms, and in his mind, his dragon purred with happiness. "Ours." "Yes, she is ours." "Forever." "Forever." "We will claim her?" "Yes, soon." "I am happy." "Me too dragon, me too."

And for the first time since he took back control, his dragon was at peace. He settled down and they all rested, together. There was no denying it now, she was his.
