Ella was dreaming of dragons, when she woke with a start. Something was wrong. She sat straight up in bed and looked around at the large dark open room. She felt off, like someone was there watching her.
"Hello?" She called out, but nothing. Was she losing her mind already? Standing up from the bed, she walked towards the bathroom, but before she got to it, she turned to the window and there staring in at her was the largest glowing amber eye she had ever seen. She opened her mouth unsure if she should yell, but nothing came out. Then she knew what it was. The dragon.
"Ragnar?" She asked as she moved towards the window. The eye blinked and then in a flash of movement, she heard the sound of giant wings, and he was gone. Was it him? Were there other dragons? More Dragons? Shit could there be more?! She had to know.
She ran from her room and knocked on Sal's door. "Sal?" He did not answer, so she took a deep breath and opened the door. "Sal? Are you awake?" "Ella?" He sat up in his bed. "Sal, I think Ragnar was just outside my window." "What?" He moved so quickly that he was right in front of her in a blink.
"Where?" Sal moved past her into her room. "At the window. I just saw this huge beautiful amber colored eye. I called his name, but he flew away." Sal pulled open the window and looked out, but did not say a word.
"Was it him?" Ella asked softly. "I don't know." "Well, are there others?" She held her breath as he turned to her. "Ella, it's ok." He stepped toward her, pulling her into a hug to comfort her.
"I am not scared, just startled. Sal, tell me, is there more?" "Did he say anything?" Sal stepped back from her and looked out at the window. "No, he didn't say anything. He was just looking in here. Now, answer my question." She huffed.
"God, it's working. It is really working." Sal ran a hand over his stubbled chin and for an instant, Ella could not take her eyes off the chiseled chest and toned body before her. He was just in his boxers and he was on full display. And damn, was he hot.
When he looked up at her, she blushed and he cleared his throat, aware that she was checking him out. "Ella, it might be best if you stay in my room." His voice was deep and full of concern but she heard a little unease in it also.
"You are kidding right? First, I am not leaving my room. He came to see ME. What if he comes back? And second..." She glanced down at his tight boxers, biting her lip to keep from saying something about the erection that was now on full display.
"...There is the matter of rule 10 and as much as I find you attractive, I am not dying until I have a chance to see this dragon." She crossed her arms and his warm smile returned. "You find me attractive?" He looked shy and she felt her cheeks warm.
"I do. I mean, have you seen the men here? You are all like Greek Gods and...ok, yeah, anyway, I do." She admitted and he hung his head and grumbled something under his breath. Oh, maybe she was wrong.
"Do you like me?" She asked softly and he exhaled and looked up to her. She could see it was clear on his face. Suddenly she felt like a teenager, unsure of her next move, but clearly the attraction went both ways.
"Well, if the dragon doesn't eat me...maybe..." She looked up at him, her meaning clear. "Ella, I only meant that you could sleep in my bed and I would stay in here." He cut her off with a sigh and then she was not sure if she had read him right.
"Oh. Well, I think I am safe though. I mean, he can't get it." She shrugged. "He could take down an entire wall with one strike of his tail." Sal explained. "Oh." Her face registered shock. "I guess he must be massive, I mean the size of his eye took up the entire window." She looked at the window, then walked past Sal to look out.
