Will

"Will I be seeing you tomorrow?" I ask keenly. We are now outside and Remi is on her motorbike.

"Uh, I don't think so... But I had a nice time today, thank you Will." She smiles at me and rides away from sight. A pang of disappointment flees through me. She was laughing along with me and she looked like she was enjoying herself.

Until I asked her about her dad's job.

Ever since then, something had shifted in her and I could not help but feel she built a wall between us. She seems off. She has shut down all her doors and did not share anything with me after that. Maybe I'm just overthinking...

I walk inside the hotel room I am sharing with Finn. I jump onto the sofa and switch through the channels on the television. Finn gets out of the bathroom, holding a toothbrush. "Hey mate, where were you?"

"I was having dinner with Remi."

Finn looks at me sternly. "Come on, man, you know you can't hang out with her."

"Why?"

"Maybe because she's involved in the damn case we're supposed to crack." Finn says in amusement.

"She didn't kill all those people, she didn't steal, and I am sure she didn't kill her mother." Now I am getting annoyed, why am I getting annoyed?

"How do you know? You met her today, you don't know her that well yet. Get your head out of your ass. Stop being so naïve, you're a detective. I get that you are attracted to her, but I suggest keeping your distance until this case is over." Finn scolds me.

I clench my jaw. I know my mate is right, but I cannot help myself. I want her, I want Remi Hood even though I do not know her, even though I just met her, even if she has secrets. I want you Remi hood, fuck the circumstances!

But I can't do that. Hell.

Finn rolls his eyes when I do not reply. "You are probably the most stubborn person I've ever met."

I sigh in defeat. "You're right. Remi's a suspect and a victim in our case, she is off-limits for now. I'll get to know her while we solve this case." I tell him. Finn nods his head like he was satisfied and walks back into the bathroom.

I am such a human; we always tend to want what we cannot have.
