Prelude written by my amazing BETA-reader, Unusual_pb on AO3. This specifically takes place during the events of the first instalment of the series.

This is a glimpse of Gulf while he was in the alternate universe. Enjoy.

___

When it happened, he couldn't believe it right away. Very few people would. In fact, they'd be very crazy if that was the case. When Gulf woke up in an unfamiliar bed, inside an unfamiliar apartment, with clear memories of going to sleep in his own bed, he freaked out. And rightfully so. What's even more, he suddenly was all alone. He couldn't see his husband anywhere! His first reaction was obviously to panic, different scenarios like kidnapping, afterlife and whatnot popped into his head.

However, confusion took over his initial panic quick as Gulf took a good look around him. He was in an apartment, there were obvious signs of someone living here. He felt alive, so he cut afterlife from the possible scenarios. There was no one else in the room and he wasn't tied up, so kidnapping was an improbable option. His eyes landed on a cell phone lying next to him on the bedside table, and he quickly snatched it up. He tried unlocking and surprisingly, it opened with his fingerprint. And thus, began his journey into the new and alien world he happened to land in.

If someone were to ask the actor if he believed in parallel worlds, he'd say; why not? But he hadn't imagined ever being in one. It was one hell of an experience, that's for sure. It has been a few weeks in this world, and he has seemingly exhausted all of his avenues to get back to his own world. He just doesn't know how he could achieve that. He had visited countless websites with never-ending conspiracy theories that keep getting weirder and weirder. He crammed as many science books as possible on the subject matter, although none could provide him with any possible solutions, except a splitting headache. It's not like he can go to actual scientists to ask for solutions. They might think he's gone crazy, or worse, they might experiment on him like in those science fiction movies. He even looked up magic as a potential avenue in a moment of desperation, except most of them looked fake, so he decided to stay far away from them.

Nothing seemed to explain how the young actor had switched souls with a person from another world. Yeah, Gulf hadn't just crossed over to another universe, he had landed in the body of another him. The Gulf Kanawut from this world.

Now Gulf was not a liar, but he'd rather not tell anyone about this predicament. What's the use if he was going to switch back anyway. That's what he told himself as he tried to maintain the life the other him had. Going to work, meeting up with friends and family and going to football club, he did them all, trying his best to not get caught. Except, now while entering the apartment that was his temporary residence, after working at a job he barely had experience in, he felt himself wavering. He didn't know if he could keep up any longer. There was a void inside him that just kept growing as he stared into the apartment that held no traces of the man he had vowed to spend the life with. It wasn't a new occurrence, yet it felt as if he was suffocating from this void now more than ever. That void named Mew Suppasit.

The absence of his husband was eating away at Gulf. This was a new kind of absence. Not the one he suffered back in his own universe (from his own husband). At least when they had a fight and Mew was acting distant, he was still there. He was a solid presence that reassured the Nong, someone who he could reach out and touch. But here he had no one. No husband to rely on. The one he loved was a universe away.

Heck, he didn't even know where things started to go south. What was it that messed up their marriage so bad, he thought as he put away his shoes and bag.

As he headed to the shower, he was reminded about how Mew refused to divulge why he suddenly started to think that their love was a mistake, shattering Gulf's fairy-tale marriage with such a simple sentence. His husband kept his lips sewed tight, never offering any explanations only vague reassurances. He became a distant presence despite being so close. But he had still been there, if not in heart then in person.
