Chapter 11: Playing the role

Exclusive interview with actors Mew Suppasit and Gulf Kanawut of 'TharnType Season 2'.

After the announcement of TharnType's long-anticipated second season, fans have been waiting impatiently to catch a glimpse of what's to come. As several behind-the-scenes pictures and videos have already been released, hype is steadily building. After the recent viral Hazer video which had fans go crazy for more, Thai Starbizz magazine had the exceptional opportunity to interview two of the main actors, Mew Suppasit (playing Tharn) and the unexpected rookie actor Gulf Kanawut (playing Type).

INTERVIEWER: First of all, thank you two so much for gracing us with your time! I've heard it's been really busy for you between other projects and workshops.

MEW: <laughs> It's no problem, we're honoured to be invited. It's been a busy time for both of us, between my other projects and upcoming album, and Gulf's other job, the past months were busy but satisfying.

GULF: To be honest, from now on I'll be concentrating on filming without any other schedules. I'm looking forward to it. Although I will definitely miss my old job as well, so far I've been enjoying this experience. <smiles and exchanges a look with Mew>

INTERVIEWER: You used to be a sports journalist, right?

GULF: Something like that, yes.

INTERVIEWER: So, you already have experience with cameras and scripts?

GULF: I worked mostly behind the scenes, but just a little. I do hope the experience I have will come in handy during the recording.

MEW: And otherwise, me and the cast will be there to help you out. But we all know you'll do great.

(At this point both Mew and Gulf were looking at each like they were sharing a secret, laughing while leaning into each other. Gulf was also slightly blushing. The interviewer was slightly taken aback by the sight, we wish we could give you readers some footage, but sadly the interview wasn't recorded.)

INTERVIEWER: Mew, how does it feel to be playing Tharn again?

MEW: I'm really excited to play Tharn again in this season, it's been a while. Tharn has always been an important role in my career and it's great to be able come back to it.

INTERVIEWER: And Gulf, how do you feel about following in Copter's footsteps as this seasons Type?

GULF: I'm aware it's a big change that I'll be playing Type instead of Copter, but I promise I will try my best to not disappoint the fans. Type is a character that's close to my heart and I really like playing him in this season. I will work really hard to portray a good Type that everyone likes and can come to love.

MEW: I really like how you play Type, yai nong, and the rest of the staff agrees with me. <Towards the interviewer.> Please look forward to Gulf's Type.

INTERVIEWER: Since it's been a while since you've played Tharn, Mew, and it's the first time for Gulf to play Type, how did you two prepare?

MEW: We did a lot of preparation exercises in the workshop, right nong Gulf?

GULF: Yes, for the past two months we've been having weekly workshops, and on top of that P'Mew and I have been going through the script on our own in the evening.

INTERVIEWER: Evening? Did you meet after workshops then?

MEW: At first, we video called to go through the script, but lately yai nong and I also have been travelling to and back from location together to prepare even more. Especially since our schedules were so busy.
