When you found out that your long-distance boyfriend was coming to Hogwarts you essentially freaked out. Barely anyone actually knew you were together, and even if they did the likelihood of them believing you was low.
You and Viktor had been together for a little over a year, having met at a Bulgaria league game when you were on holiday – it was by chance really, you'd gotten nervous when you met him and rambled all about your theories of the game and he'd been transfixed.
Of course, you didn't only bond over quidditch, but Viktor liked that, because you played for Gryffindor, you could talk through his games with him afterwards and actually know what he was talking about.
Over the past year the two of you had written constantly and visited back and forth in the holidays, or basically whenever you could. It helped that yours and his parents were so supportive; his parents had welcomed you almost instantly, and his mother had begun to teach you Bulgarian too, taking you in completely which was beyond comforting.
In his letters Viktor sounded so excited to be coming to visit, the fact that he was going to get to spend almost four months straight with you seemed to be a major factor for his excitement.
You sat at the welcome feast in anticipation, knowing that the Durmstrang students would be coming in soon.
"Hey Y/N," Fred, your fellow Gryffindor teammate, whispered as he nudged your shoulder.
"Yes?" you questioned as you turned to look at him and George.
"Why are you staring at the door like you know what's going to come through?" George quizzed, smirking at you.
Shrugging, you left them without an answer as Dumbledore announced Igor Karkaroff and the rest of Durmstrang's students.
You smiled as you watched the display but then all eyes turned to the doors as Igor and Viktor walked through.
Viktor's eyes scanned the crowd and they eventually found you, he shot a wink your way and lifted his fist to rest over his heart for a few moments – something he often did at the end of his games, a sign to you he always said.
For the remainder of the feast, you kept stealing glances over at Viktor as he did the same with you.
"Ah my little chaser," you heard Viktor's broad accent as people started to clear out of the Great Hall.
Both Fred and George's eyes went wide when Viktor spoke, Ron, Harry and Hermione all whipped round in surprise as well.
"He speaks English!" George declared, pointing at your boyfriend.
Viktor chuckled in amusement and held his hand out to you, which you took as you got off of the bench.
"He's holding her hand!" Fred declared as his and George moved to point at you.
You rolled your eyes. "You know, it's a good job he's the seeker here as if that's all you two have in ways of observation skills...well, don't hang up your beaters sticks any time soon, yes?"
Their mouths dropped open at your words whilst Viktor laughed, letting go of your hand to wrap his arm around your shoulder.
"Even though you all know how he is," you stated dryly. "I suppose I should introduce you all?"
Your friends all nodded, mesmerised looks on their faces well bar Hermione's, she just looked intrigued.
"Viktor, these are my friends – Fred and George are beaters on the team with me, and then there's Harry, Hermione and Ron," you introduced them all, pointed to each of them respectively. "Ron is a big fan of you," you went up on your tip toes to whisper in his ear.
Chuckling, Viktor squeezed your shoulder and then kissed the top of your head. "It's nice to meet you all, my little chaser has told me a lot."
You smiled as you wrapped your arms around Viktor's middle, somewhat enjoying the surprise looks on your friends faces. "We're going for a walk to the boat," you stated, and Viktor took your hint, that you didn't want to hang around for much longer, as he started to lead you out of the Great Hall. "I'll see you all later."
