You had been friends with Bellatrix since you had started at Hogwarts, both being sorted into Slytherin and sharing a dorm. It was a peculiar friendship; you didn't agree with her ideologies, but she seemed nice enough and it wasn't until you met her family that you realised how deep it all was. Nevertheless, you were both purebloods and even if you weren't as extreme as her, your friendship outlived your time at school and out into the real world. Both you were soon married to other purebloods and you sat quietly, letting the prejudice thrive until everything became too much and your concern for Bellatrix was too much.

With the uprising of Voldemort, you knew that Bellatrix and many like her were infatuated with him and his ideas and were desperate to follow him to a future with a social hierarchy. You didn't agree with it but that didn't matter, not until you noticed how deep into his way of life she really was. The way she spoke of him, the way she gleamed at any mention of him, you knew that she was far too gone into an obsession and needed to speak with someone she trusted to see the light.

"Why do you need to talk so desperately?" Bellatrix asked when she entered your home whilst your husband was out at work.

"I need to talk to you about Voldemort," you sighed, knowing that this wouldn't be an easy conversation to have with her.

"Are you finally willing to accept that he can provide us the future we have always wanted?" She questioned, a hopeful glint in her eye.

You shook your head. "Actually, the opposite."

Her expression instantly dropped, looking ill pleased with the concept.

"It's an obsession Bella," you stated. "You're a married woman but the way you talk about him is as though he is a deity."

She rolled her eyes at you. "You'll never understand. You just need to hear him talk and you'll understand why I see him that way. He is so much more than Rodolphus could ever be."

"The way you talk about him is like he's a cult leader."

Bellatrix soured at the concept that you thought of him badly. You knew she was infatuated with Voldemort but maybe it was so much stronger emotionally than you could imagine. She closed the gap between you, her expression bittering.

"You're my best friend but if you try to do anything to get in the way of Lord Voldemort and me, I will not hesitate to discard you."

She didn't hesitate to turn around again and exit your home, leaving you shocked and concerned more than ever.
