Lalna was sat with his four year old niece at the table. The young girl was stuck with Lalna now, since her parents had dropped her off at the doorstep of Panda Labs and didn't return. He tried to contact his sister, but there was no luck.
In a way, Lalna was glad that they had received no words. He had no idea how fun it was to raise a child, with the help of Nano of course.
Even though this child was a product of his sister, she had the traits of him, and a few of Nano's when it came to personality. Her hair was a gorgeous shade of blonde, running down towards her lower back, it always looked like silk every time he saw it, thanks to his apprentice. Her eyes were a shade of chocolatey brown, and her smile was enough to brighten anyone's day.
"Hey Katie, what are you doing?" The scientist cooed to the girl, who was fixated on gluing a foam letter to a piece of card.
"Making a present. It's for Nano, but shhh! Don't tell her." She said quietly. Katie was quite a smart child for her age, always eager to expand her vocabulary and was already as independent as a four year old could get.
"Okay, I won't tell her as long as you tell me why you're making this for her." He said soothingly, wanting to know why she was feeling proud of her.
"Well, she's spent so much time while becoming death, and I'm just proud of her." She smiled, seeming achieved with herself as she stuck the last bit on and left it to dry. "And since I show my happiness to you all the time, I thought it would be nice to do something for her."
"That's a lovely thing to do." Lalna smiled, watching as Nano came into the room, pulling her hood attached to her robes down. Katie immediately ran towards her, pulling her t-shirt that she wore under her robes.
"Nano! Nano!" She squealed in happiness, smiling like any four year old would when they haven't saw the person who treats her like a daughter in a day.
"Hello sweetie! How are you?" Nano smiled as she picked her up, however thanks to her height, she wasn't lifted very high.
"Great! Nano! You look like Death!" The younger girl giggled as she pulled at her robes.
"Yeah! I did it sweetie!" Nano smiled as Katie wriggled out of her grip and grabbed the card she had made for her and handed it to Nano.
Nano smiled incredibly as she opened the card and a little paragraph was inside, along with a picture that Katie had drawn of herself and Nano.

To Nano,
You are amazing. Thank you for making me feel happy and loved. You and Lalna are the best people in the world. Thank you for looking after me. You are my hero.
Lots of Love, Katie. xxx

"Thank you so much Katie. I will always keep this close to me darling, okay?" Nano said whilst kneeling down to her level and making a grin spread across her face.
"You're welcome." She shyly said as the pair went upstairs to find Lalna sat on the couch with three mugs filled with steaming hot chocolate on the table.
"Hello my two favourite girls." Lalna said, making his apprentice blush as his niece ran towards him, practically diving on the couch and cuddle into his side. Nano proceeded to take a seat beside Katie as they talked enough for the child to fall asleep.
