Duncan's POV:

War.

That was the only thing keeping me going now. There was nothing else. War was what killed all my family, and my little sister, Clucky, was now being held captive by the Flux Empire in their city. All I knew was that she was being kept in some sort of dungeon. And trust me, I was determined to get her back; she's the only member of family I have left.

"Come on people! This is where we separate the men from the boys! We need to win this fight, as the Flux Empire have the next heir to the throne. We need to get back Ms. Jones before any harm comes to her." I shout so that the majority of my army could hear me.

"Yes sir!" The saluted back, and I nodded and put on my cold iron helmet.

"Let's win this thing." I muttered, before leaving the city behind us.

After trailing for what seems like hours, one of the look-outs finally speak out.

"Sir! Enemy spotted!" A knight shouted, and I turned around to see the Flux army imerging towards us with a... Girl?

Was that a girl leading them?

She was quite small, but suited in full iron and chain armour, holding a hand cuffed girl, who could also be named my sister, Clucky.

"Surrender and give us your riches, then you'll get your heir back." The girl shouted, lifting my sister in the air. Anger flooded through my veins as she was thrown on the ground, tears falling down her ridiculously pale, delicate cheeks.

I unsheathed my sword from my pocket, getting it in the right position before yelling out, signalling for the battle to begin. We all charged forward and swung at each other, swords stabbing the parts of flesh where the armour was weaker. All that could be heard was the ear-piercing screech of metal being dragged against each other in a combination of blocking and attacking, and the grunts of people trying their hardest to damage their opponents.

But I had a different plan. I was going to get the girl with my sister, however she seemed to have gone.. As I got closer, I could hear her whimpers of my name.

"It's okay, I'm here." I whispered to her, touching her side. She tensed up, but soon relaxed as she processed my voice. "Have they hurt you?"

She simply shook her head before looking towards me.

"Behind you." She shouted, however it seemed to be more of a sob. And, due to fast reflexes and her warning, I was able to deflect an attack of the small girl that was guarding Clucky.

"Thanks." I said to her, as me and the girl walked in circles with both of our swords unsheathed.

"Is this what it's come to?" She said, her voice was filled with the most bitter hatred I could picture. "You declaring war with us? Making all our citizens panic?"

I let out a breathy laugh. "That sword you're using. I bet you don't even know what that has been through. You're not even a loyal soldier." I hissed.

"How would you know?" She hissed back at me, and once again I laughed.

"Because it's been impaled in my family members many times. Both of my parents, and my girlfriend too. Just in case I got the idea of marriage. And you left me at my irresponsible era, to go and rule a land full of people." I coughed out into the cold air, and at that moment, she swung forward, but towards my sister.

"No! Clucky!" I screamed louder that I could manage, but the girl had incredible accuracy, and sliced the chain in half.

"You can have the girl if you promise that we'll talk again." She said, smiling, whilst holding the back of her muddy, ripped dress.

I nodded as quick as I possibly could. "If we don't talk again, you have the right to pierce me in my heart." I said, as Clucky was thrown into my arms, with her blonde plaits almost being cut off by the girl's sword.

"The name's Kim. Kim Richards. Heir to the throne in the Flux Empire." She said, and I nodded.

"Duncan. Duncan Jones. King of the Alea Empire." I said, shaking her armoured hand and calling both of our armies back to the cities to retreat.
