Ban pov
Its been two months since I've last seen (y/n), we finally found Escanor and stop at a small town on our way back to the kingdom of liones
"Ban" I hear a soft voice say my name but was disappointed when I saw is wasn't (y/n)
"Elaine?" I look at her
"Wait elaine what are you doing here?!" I quickly ask hugging her
"(Y/n) revived me and teleported us here" elaine tells me
"Is she here?" I ask getting a little excited
"No she left as soon as she brought me here, Is she ok? what happened? I thought you were going to be happy to together after you told her how you feel" she says sounding worried
"No, she rejected me... she said she loved me but she didn't want to hurt Danny" I explain
"I'm so sorry I thought she would choose you" she tells me
"Its fine, You just didn't know how amazing Danny was" I reply
"If he's so amazing why did (y/n) look so sad?" She asks
"Is (y/n) really that heart broken" my chest hurts as I say those words
"What happened?" She asks worried
"Danny tried to kill (y-/n)" my words break
"Is she ok?!" Elaine says worried
"I don't think so" I cry into her chest
"I killed Danny before he could hurt her but I think that hurt her more" I weakly say as Elaine rubbs my back
"What did (y/n) look like?" I ask scared of the answer
"Her hair was a mess, her eyes were red and she was covered in scars the spell out different names" she answered
"Why is she doing that to herself? Why is she reviving so many people?" I cry worrying
"It will be ok, Ban" elaine tells me
"You don't know that!" I yell frustrated
"Something always get in the way of me and (y/n) spending the rest of our lives together!" I shout
"I'm sorry" elaine says
"Its not your fault" I say
"No it is, I should have told you to be happy and move on when I first died then maybe you would have told (y/n) how you felt a long time ago" she explained
"You still have nothing to be sorry for" I tell her
"I do you always felt guilty after you spent time with her and y-" I cut her off by kissing her
"I'm sorry... I wanted to kiss you to emphasize how much it isn't your fault and it isn't but... I don't-I don't feel anything anymore, I still love you but it's not the same kind of love I used to have for you" I explain feeling like a jackass for telling elaine of all people that
"Sorry... I shouldn't have said that" I apologize
"It's ok I know I'm not her" she replied with a sad smile
"I still think you're amazing and one of the best parts of my life, I'd still kill (y/n) if you wanted to be alive as much as (y/n) wanted to die" I tell her
"I think you want to believe you would if there was enough reason to kill her... but you love her more than you think you do" she tells me
"That's toxic! I'm not going to sacrifice our happiness to be with her!" I say
"I think you have" elaine says right before she disappears
"Then why isn't she here!?" I pull my hair as tears roll down my face soaking the collar of a wool shirt (y/n) had given me forever ago
(Y/n) pov
I wake up from my deathless death having no way of knowing how much time had passed
'it could have been five years already it doesn't matter anyway it's not like I'd even try to follow the only grieving for five year rule he didn't follow the loving me for the rest of my life part of our deal!' I look at my arms chest and legs and see most of my family and friends names
"Damn it!" I complain only being able to think of one other person to revive so I start carving his name on an empty space on my dominant hand and my eyes widened when he actually showed up
"W-why did you show up?" I ask looking down not strong enough to make eye contact
"We made a deal remember" Danny tells me and he starts walking towards me making me flinch
"We made lots of deals" my voice shakes
"I am so sorry (y/n)" Danny says before suprising me with a hug
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" his tears fell onto the top of my head
"I wish I trusted you and let myself believe that someone like you could really love me" he sobbed and I finally snapped out of my daze and pushed him back
"What's going on?" I ask crying confused
"I love you, I never stopped loving you for even a second! I was lost in the world, my life wasn't going anywhere, then you showed up and fixed it all! it didn't make sense, then a man found me after we went our separate ways the first night, he told me lie after lie about you and everything made sense. I wish I just trusted you. I am so sorry" he explained as I continued to cry
"How do you know I'm who I say I am now?" I ask
"Once you die, you get to know the truth about every part of your life" Danny answered softly
"Once I die" I laugh as more tears stream down my face And Danny hugs me again making me tense up
"Sorry" he says weakly stepping away
"I want to make things, ok" he tells me
"things will never be ok." I say sorta harshly
"I just want you to be happy again" he says weakly
"I've never really been happy Danny, the closest I ever really got was... was when you proposed" I mumbled
"That's not true! You were happy whenever we would sneak food out of the castle for the poor villagers, you were happy every time you would teach melissa something new, you were happy every time we would play ball with the kids from the (l/n) school." Danny lists pausing to think of something else
"But there all dead!" Hot tears fall onto my hands
"You were happy for a second when Ban told you he loves you" Danny reply making it feel like time stopped
"But I picked you" I say quietly
"Was it a mistake?" I asked crying
"I'm sorry... I love you so much, I wish with all my heart we had more time together, I want you to be ha-" he disappears before he could finish his sentence
"Shit" I say as I hurry and grabbed Endarah and kill my body so I don't think about what Danny might have said
