Cassandra's surprise return

Chapter 4

Cassandra was still pacing around her room whilst Raps was fangirl squealing in the corner.

"Cass has a crush!" She said mockingly.

Cass just sent her a glare and continued to pace.

"What? There's nothing wrong with having a crush, plus he likes you back. So there's no problem!" Rapunzel said with a smile.

"That's the problem! I'm not going to be here forever! My destiny is still out there, and I need to find it. I don't want to make Varian feel any worse than what he was when I left the first time. I can't deal with breaking his heart like that. I just... I can't do it..." She said with a sigh, tears stinging her eyes.

Rapunzel wrapped Cassandra in a hug, which then made her give in and let the tears stream down her face.

"Cass, you know you love him, give it a try..." Rapunzel said with a smile.

Cassandra sighed in defeat. Raps was right, she should give it a shot.

"Your right, I'll give it a try, but if it doesn't work out, I'm blaming you for convincing me." She said with a chuckle.

Rapunzel giggled in response and pulled  Cassandra in for another quick hug before standing up holding her hand out to Cass, which she gladly accepted and pulled herself up.

"I'm gonna head to bed, and you should do the same, after you've had something to eat, I brought a tray of food up for you." Rapunzel said with a smile before opening the door.

"Hey, Raps?" Cassandra said before Rapunzel left the room.

"Yea?" Rapunzel replied.

"Thank you, I couldn't ask for a better friend and sister with the best pep talks ever than you. I love you Raps, I'm glad that it's you who's my sister." She said with a smile.

"Aww, Cass, I love you too, and I couldn't ask for a better sister than you either. Goodnight." Raps replied with a smile before leaving the room, closing the door behind her.

Cassandra ate what she could from the tray and got ready for bed.

Slipping into the cozy duvet she almost instantly fell asleep.

The next morning, Cassandra woke up to birds singing outside her window and the sunshine of the new day lighting up her room.

She got up and went to get changed before deciding to try and find Rapunzel, halfway down the corridor, she heard two familiar happy voices coming towards her, she turned around the corner and bashed into her nieces.

"Oh, we're so sorry Aunty Cass, are you okay?" Hayley asked as she took hold of Cassandra's hand attempting to help her up.

"I'm okay, but the more important question is are you two okay? That was some crash. Your not hurt are you?" Cassandra said as she got up and kneeled down.

"We're okay, don't worry Aunt Cass." Avery said with a smile.

"Good, now why don't you two run off and play, but be careful you don't crash into anyone else... unles it's your father. I'll gladly give you permission to crash into him." Cassandra said with a chuckle.

"Okay!" The girls said in union before running off.

Cassandra watched the girls run round the corner and then heard someone groan in pain.

"Girls, what have I told you about running around the corners?" She heard a mans voice say. She knew this voice only too well.

"But Aunt Cass said that we could run into you if we wanted to." She heard Hayley say.

"Oh did she now? Where exactly is Aunt Cass?"

She couldn't see them, but had a feeling that the girls pointed around the corner.

Suddenly she heard a: "CASSANDRA!!!!"

"WHAT'S WRONG YOUR ROYAL TRAVESTY?" Cassandra yelled back with a chuckle.

"IM GONNA KILL YOU!!" He yelled back as he ran round the corner towards her.

Cassandra simply put her hand up as if to say 'wait'. Eugene skid to a halt and looked at her confused.

"Wait a sec, let me ask Rapunzel first...  HEY RAPS?!" She yelled.

"YEA?!" She heard Rapunzel yell back.

"JUST WONDERING, IS EUGENE ALLOWED TO KILL ME?!" She asked.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!!" Rapunzel yelled. Cassandra laughed in victory and looked back at Eugene.

"Sorry Eugene, Raps says no." She said with a smirk before walking off.

Cassandra walked into the throne room and smiled when she saw Rapunzel.

"Hey." She said as she stood next to her.

"Hey Cass, what was the whole 'is Eugene allowed to kill me?' thing about?" Raps asked.

"Oh you know, just sharing the family love." Cassandra replied with a grin.

"Okayyy, anyway, have you told him yet?" She asked.

"Told who what?" Cassandra asked confused.

"Have you told Varian how yo..." Cassandra put a hand over Rapunzel's mouth to stop her from saying anymore.

"Ahh, do you want the entire kingdom to know?!" She said in a hushed tone.

"Yea, as a matter of fact I do." Rapunzel replied with a giggle.

"Of course you do... and to answer the question you were going to ask, no I've not told Varian how I feel yet." She said quietly.

Rapunzel groaned. "Come on Cass, your gonna have to tell him sooner or later."said Rapunzel.

"Tell who what?" Said a voice, they both knew exactly who it was.

"Heyyy Varian... um... we were just talking about how... uhh... I actually enjoy Eugenes company!! That's it!!" Cassandra lied, trying to make up an excuse, Rapunzel nudged Cassandra in the side.

"Oh... well if you want I can tell him for you."

"N-no!! No it's fine... I can tell him." Cassandra said nervously. "In fact! I'll go and do that right now! See you guys later!" She said as she walked out the room.

"Well then... is she feeling alright?" Varian asked Rapunzel, who was grinning, in her own world of fangirl squealing.
"Hm? Oh right. Yea, she's fine, she just had a little case of being lovestruck is all." Rapunzel said before putting her hands to her mouth.
"Uhh... You didn't hear that." She said making up an excuse.

"I heard perfectly clear... Who does she like?" Varian asked.

"Uhh... she'd kill me if she found out I told you..." Rapunzel said nervously.

"I won't tell her you told me, I promise." Varian said with a small smile.

"Well... okay. She likes...
