Ruby huffed a sigh of relief before wiping her brows. She just finished stacking the boxes which contain her stuff as she moved to her uncle's old Victorian house. She stared at the grand edifice slowly deteriorating by the hands of time. Vines had crawled up its august brick walls and white columns while the once pristine lacquer of the wooden foundations slowly chips away. The proud grey roof above the gables still seemed frightening while the tall windows appeared ominous from the outside. Overall the house looks like it came out of a horror movie or novel making anyone who gazed upon it tremble with fear. Being located in a remote place with the nearest civilization several kilometers away from her doesn't seem to be a very enticing living space, added with the fact that a thick woodland surrounds the house.

It seems that it wasn't enough for Roger to design a creepy house he also placed it in the middle of nowhere with no one to go to in case a serial killer tries to target her. Great. But on the plus side, she now has a fancy vintage car to go to places. Roger's Chevrolet Corvette automatically became hers after his death and although Ruby preferred the glamorous modern sports cars, being classy doesn't seem too bad since Roger also did some customizations on the engine.

Thinking about the man, Roger recently died of mysterious causes. Some doctors said that his death was caused by his unhealthy lifestyle and bad smoking and drinking habits while some say that he was poisoned by the suspicious things he ate from the forest surrounding his house. Some of his superstitious acquaintances and relatives say that he was cursed or killed by the dark elements living in his old Victorian mansion. Whatever caused his death, Roger seemed to be aware of it because he had planned the aftermath of his demise with a detailed last will instructing his lawyers with very specific objects to be handed to her once she moved in his house. The lawyer said that he will deliver Roger's journals tomorrow that Ruby must read before fully exploring the house. Knowing the type of person her uncle was, there might be boobie traps everywhere so she will heed his words and wait for the journal to arrive before touring the house.

Ruby was surprised, to say the least when she was named as the sole heiress of all his fortune and no one else, to the dismay of her cousin Claude. They weren't very close but Ruby guessed that he hates her less and tolerated her more than their money-hungry relatives. Additionally, Roger was the one who took care of her after her parents' death. She used to live with him here back when she was still in elementary but she moved out to her apartment when she reached 8th grade. Roger seemed to sneer at her less compared to her cousins that's why his decision didn't surprise them that much although there were still numerous complaints about getting a part of his riches.

Roger actually had a lot of grand properties on his name passed down to him by his aristocratic lineage. The most suspicious thing about him is the insurmountable amount of money in his bank account, now hers, even though he was merely a professional hunter and there were no records or accounts of sold properties or heirlooms. Ruby suspects that her uncle dealt with some shady underground stuff which might explain the root of all his vast riches.  However, there's a condition to her inheritance.
