Taehyung was sitting in the airport, his nerves building as he stared at the screens that flashed departures and arrivals. An array of guards stood nearby, protecting the idol from any curious eyes. Taehyung still felt perfectly alone, his feet tapping on the ground as he reflected on his mother's affirmations of how this would go.
She told him everything would be fine and that he shouldn't worry. She told him this was the start of the rest of his life. She told him, seemingly most importent to her, to respect Lena's father.
Choi Kai-Min was his mother's childhood best friend, and just happened to father the girl that would build a life with Taehyung. He had decided to move with his daughter and had bought a house on the next street, directly behind Taehyung's house, give or take the array of trees that blocked a clear view. Although Taehyung rarely resided at home, especially during the early days of training for a new album, he felt he would be at home much more now.
The flight number that Taehyung had been given now glowed a soft green, announcing the plane had successfully landed at the airport. This caused Taehyung to panic, his mind racing with all the ways he could screw up upon greeting his soulmate and her father. Even though he had waited eight years for this day, he still couldn't fathom it.
Taehyung had been in a group of teens that performed as idols, BTS, and had been since he was barely a teen himself. Given the youngest was merely 11 at the time of the group's forming, not many people took them seriously, but the training at such a young age gave the group an advantage. Seven boys formed the group, and only three knew their soulmates upon their formation. Three may have been a small number, but it scared Taehyung to know he was living life without his soulmate and yet his hyungs had theirs by their sides. Flashing forward to today, one more soulmate has joined the BTS family, and two have married, not to mention a wedding coming up. Taehyung had watched these relationships form and he was ready for his.
And there she was, the woman of his dreams. His ring glowed with intensity, hers mimicking as they locked eyes. She stared at him, wide-eyed as she finally stood directly in front of him, her neck craning to see him. She was a tiny girl with an even tinier voice, a contrast to Taehyung and certainly a contrast to the man behind her that Taehyung hadn't even seen yet.
"Lena," Taehyung smiled.
"Taehyung," Lena cracked a small smile, her voice barely reaching Taehyung's ears.
Lena wrapped her arms around him and Taehyung's heart bursted with joy. A twinge of a new emotion spanning his body as she embraced him. Taehyung felt like he had just hugged his future.
Lena pulled away shyly, her gaze guiding her hand to Taehyung's ring.
"Can I put it on you?" She asked, her eyes hopeful.
Taehyung nodded and got on his knees for her so she could easily take it off. The chain that had hung around his neck for eight years was now unclasped, the ring falling into Lena's hand before she slipped it on to his right ring finger. Taehyung would do the same before glancing at the man that was patiently waiting for the new soulmates to leave.
"My name is Kim Taehyung, sir," Taehyung bowed at the man before the man chuckled.
"And I'm Choi Kai-Min, call me dad," Kai-Min said. "I can already tell you're a hell of a boy."
Taehyung was a little taken aback by his language, but smiled nonetheless.
"Well, dad, I'd love to bring you home," he said as he felt Lena intertwine their fingers. "My mom speaks highly of you."
"Ah, and she speaks highly of you too," Kai-Min said. "I'm glad to see she wasn't just trying to flex on me."
Taehyung grinned before he led them out of the airport and brought them home.

The home was filled with a warmth, a mix of nostalgia and anticipation.Taehyung was sitting on the couch, his soulmate curled into his side, half asleep.
Taehyung's mother chatted with Lena's father, the two seemingly making up for lost time.
Before long, goodbyes were being said between the parents as Kai-Min planned to go home. Lena was still fast asleep and the elder man smiled.
"You two shouldn't be separated during the early stages," he said. "Just let her know I'll be at home."
Taehyung hadn't completely realized that this was really happening. He had dreamt about his soulmate and their future together. The pulls they'd go through together, the life they'd build, the future he had missed more than anything. And now she, his future, just groggily sat up, staring at her father.
"Where are you going?" Lena asked her father.
"Home, dear," Kai-Min said. "Stay with Taehyung. Once you two can survive being apart, you can join me at home."
Lena stood up and trapped her father in a hug, the two sharing goodbyes before he departed.
"Well, Taehyung, I'm going to head to bed," Taehyung's mother said. "You should get back to your dorms before Namjoon worries."
Taehyung nodded as Lena looked up at him.
"Namjoon?" Lena asked. "Who is that?"
"My hyung...I have six," Taehyung said. "Bandmates."
"Oh, that's right, I uh...I may have quickly googled you on the plane," Lena said. "I expected to find an Instagram page...which I did, but I found a lot more."
"Yeah, um, surprise!" Taehyung chuckled. "You've never heard of us before now?"
"I had heard of you but I never knew specifics."
"Well, I can introduce you to specifics later," Taehyung smiled. "Eomma, thank you for letting us stay and talk."
His mother beamed before hugging both him and Lena.
"Be safe on your way home, Taehyung," she said. "And Lena, don't hesitate to call if you need anything."
Lena nodded as she clung to Taehyung's side.
Taehyung's mother beamed with pride, excited to see her son with his soulmate.
This would be the beginning of a long, beautiful relationship.
