It had been two weeks since the incident and my anxiety was at its peak, Rose's birthday was right around the corner and I had to be there for her. I had been a shitty friend lately, only worrying about myself, and I felt bad. She had been there for me throughout. She even stayed over the day Andrew tried to force himself on me. I didn't want to be a selfish friend, although I had already been one. I spoke to Kevin and we decided to throw her a big party. She was turning 18, she deserved it.
The party was in less than 2 days and we had to figure so much out, but Kevin helped me through it all. He really cared about Rose, and I was so very happy for her. We decided to throw the party at my house. I tricked Rose into believing we were having a sleepover.
When we came back to my place, she really didn't expect a surprise, but we did manage to pull it off.
Rose came with a drink in her hand.
"Audrey, chug" I looked at her with surprise.
"I don't drink. Come on go and enjoy. I'm fine"
"No you have to drink, it's my birthday. Chug!!" she was very insistent and I couldn't refuse her anymore. I gulped in the bitter-tasting liquid wondering how people drank this.
After three drinks, I was completely tipsy, and Rose really liked my drunk version.
We danced as if the world was about to end. After a few more drinks I felt a bit uneasy.
I walked towards the washroom and saw Andrew standing there. I was scared, why was he here? I knew I was too drunk to fight off Andrew. He started walking towards me and I this point I wanted to run away. Just when I turned around to walk away I dashed into Chris. I fell down due to the collision. He bent down and helped me get up."Aud, you are really drunk" I just laughed at him. Andrew walked away knowing he wouldn't be able to fight Chris.
It was 1 a.m. already but I didn't want to go to bed. I got up and without saying anything went and sat on the couch pulling Chris with me. He sat beside me as I rested my head on his shoulder and admired the drunk teenagers dancing.
Everybody left by 2 and I was relieved. Chris still sat by my side. He wanted to make sure that I was okay, and in all honestly, I was still tipsy.
"Let's put you to bed," he said sweetly."Chrisssss, I don't want to go to bed. I am a mortal being let me enjoy"
"You need to go to bed. Come on don't make me beg" he stood up and pulled me from the couch.
"Noooo" I giggled "I will sleep only if you sleep" I had no idea what I was saying, but for once it felt good to do something without thinking.
"Get up Audrey". He said while I sat on the floor like a 4-year-old throwing a tantrum.
I wasn't ready to get up and he knew that.
"Guess I'll have to carry you then"
I giggled, the idea thrilled me. He carried me over his shoulder, while I kept blabbering.
He gently placed me on my bed, tucked me in, and said goodnight. As I saw him walk away, I felt sad "Stay," I said not thinking about the consequences.
He glared at me then sat at the edge of the bed near me.
"You should get some sleep. You are really drunk"
I looked at him with desperation "Why are you going? Don't you want to stay?" and I practically begged him to stay.
He wanted to stay, I could see it in his eyes.
"Audrey, believe me, you don't want me to stay. You are just drunk, but I will sit here till you fall asleep"
I wasn't thrilled by the idea of him watching me sleep but I also didn't want him to go.
Chris POV
Audrey looked beautiful, even though she was drunk and tired. She held my hand and slept. It was such a peaceful sight. I wanted to stay with her, but I didn't want her to feel awkward the next day. She had fallen asleep and I had to leave as promised.
"Good night" I gently tucked her hair behind her ear and kissed her on her forehead.
"I don't know what I did, but I don't deserve someone as good as you in my life, you have taken over my emotions. I feel helpless " I kissed her hand gently then got up to leave.
I knew I had to leave lest I might land up sleeping with her and she won't be thrilled tomorrow morning.
