22. Polar Opposites

"Okay.. so we have some explaining to do." I start.

Daichi continues, "We may or may not have been keeping something from you for.. two months now?"

"Yeah, just about two months." I nod.

Oh my god, he's never going to trust us again.

I look at the floor, my shoe's untied. I go to tie it when I hear a voice.

A new one. One that I didn't think I'd hear anytime soon.

Asahi.

"Well.. I guess I should tell you two-"

(Author: YESSSSSSS)

I stand up and interrupt him, "HOLY-"

(Author: tbh I was tempted to write "HOLY ASAHI" but he's not Jesus quite yet so-)

Daichi interrupts me, "SUGA DON'T INTERRUPT."

"But you just interrupted me." I mumble.

"I guess I was keeping something from you two too." Asahi looks away.

I don't even care at this point, I'm just curious, "Who is it? When'd you meet them? How'd you meet them? Do they go to this school?"

He laughs, nervously, "Umm.. you'll meet him eventually."

"Do they go to this school though?" Daichi asks.

"Not yet.." Asahi pauses, "He's still a third year in middle school."

A year younger than us. I wonder what he's like.

...

The bell rings, Daichi and I leave and go back to our class.

Class feels long, too long.

I can't help wondering who Asahi's soulmate is and what they're like.

Asahi's a pretty nervous guy from what I've seen.. so would his soulmate be a nervous wreck too? Or would they be polar opposites? I don't see there being anything in between.

Time Skip to after school and after volleyball practice:

Daichi, Asahi, and I walk out of Karasuno's gates.

(Author: omg why does it sound they're graduating)

Silence. Awkward silence.

"So.." I start, trying to break the awkward silence.

I stop when I hear someone yelling, getting closer.

"Oh no." Asahi mumbles and starts looking around.

OH NO? OH NO!? WHY DID HE SAY OH NO?!

"Is.. everything ok?" Daichi asks, concerned.

"ROLLING THUNDER!" I hear as a small boy with a yellow streak in his hair comes rolling into Asahi, causing them both to fall over.

"Hey.. Noya." Asahi half groans, half laughs.

"Hey Asahi-San!" The boy says excitedly.

"Pfftt" I try not to burst out laughing.

"S.. SUGA!" Daichi scolds, although I can tell he's also trying not to laugh.

"Why'd you rolling thunder into me.. again?" Asahi says as he stands up.

What's rolling thunder? And what does he mean again?

"I wanted to recreate how we met." He laughs.

Is this Asahi's soulmate? Wait, didn't he say he was in middle school? He looks like he's in elementary school.

(Author: That one time when someone thought Hinata and Noya were elementary schoolers lmao)

I glance at Daichi, he looks just as confused as I am.

The (smol) boy stands up. He's wearing the Chidoriyama Middle School uniform.

So he is in middle school. Did he run here?

Asahi looks over at Daichi and I, "This is-"

He gets cut off by the (smol) boy, "Nishinoya Yuu, but you can call me Noya, nice to meet you!" He smiles.

(Author: THIS LINE HAS FINALLY BEEN WRITTEN YESSSSS)

I can already tell he's just a ball of energy.

"Sugawara Koushi, just call me Suga though." I smile.

"Sa-" Daichi starts, but gets interrupted.

"Wait lemme guess.." Noya pauses, "If thats Suga, then you must be Daichi?"

(Author: Let's just say Asahi told Noya about them lmao)

Daichi smiles, "Yep."

Well I guess they're polar opposites then.
