Sugawara's POV
My alarm goes off. What day is it? What time is it? It's too early for this. I press snooze on my alarm clock.
Mom walks into my room, "Koushi sweetie, it's time to get up." She pauses when she realizes I'm not getting up. "Koushi it's your first day of high school."
I reach for my phone. Thursday, April 15, 5 am. "It's too early." I sign to her.
I really hope I meet my soulmate soon. I don't like signing and writing takes too long. Sometimes I'll just communicate with facial expressions because I'm too lazy to do either.
"Aren't you signing up for volleyball?" My mom starts, "You should get there early and turn in the sign up sheet."
I look at her and sigh. I get out of bed. I suppose she's right.
"Breakfast is ready downstairs." Mom says as she leaves the room. "I made your favorite."
Why did she make my favorite? She could've made someone else's favorite. It's not like there's a shortage of people in this house. She's probably just worried about me because all my younger siblings have met their soulmates already.
I start getting dressed. Maybe I don't have a soulmate. Wait don't lose hope. I facepalm. My parents are losing hope for me already, I can't lose hope.
Where the hell did I put my bag?
Mom yells as if she read my mind, "KOUSHI SWEETIE YOUR BAG IS IN YOUR CLOSET."
I make a mental note to thank her later as I walk to my closet. I open my closet and sure enough my bag is in there. I grab it and I throw anything I might need today inside.
I run downstairs to see my mom putting food on the table. "Did you find your bag sweetie?"
I smile, "Yeah, thanks." I sign as I sit down and start eating.
"When was the last time you tried talking?" She says out of the blue.
She really is worried about me. I remember trying last night, I'm not surprised no sound came out though. "Last night. No luck." I sign to her.
"Oh.." She looks at me, her face full of worry.
I sigh, "Mom I'm fine. I'll meet them someday." I sign slowly.
I say this more to myself than her.
She sighs, "I know.. I'm just worried about you."
I look at her as if saying, "I know."
"Maybe you have met them, and the universe is still trying to pair you with someone." She says hopefully.
I smile. That's not entirely impossible, but it's rare. It's happened before.
I finish eating and walk towards the door. "I'll walk to school today. See you later." I sign.
"I love you. Have a good day." She says as I walk to the door.
"I love you too." I sign as I put on my shoes and walk out the door.
