I sigh when Kyoko keeps fussing over me. "I'm fine. It was nothing. Just a little episode again."
"Those episodes aren't nothing, hon." She turns to Todoroki with a smile. "Thank you so much for taking care of her, Todoroki. It's greatly appreciated."
He gives her a bow. "That's no problem, Miss Kyoko." I roll my eye and smirk.
"Alright, Sir, time for you to go." I shoo him out the door of the Cafe. "I appreciate your help, but I'm home now. Mission accomplished. Bye bye." I give him a wink and take him outside of the Cafe. I close the door behind me and turn to him. The setting sun shines in my eye and I smirk at him. "Kyoko likes you a lot, for some reason."
He shrugs. "I dunno that reason."
I laugh. "I didn't expect you to, don't worry."
He gives me a soft smile. "Hey, Sumi?"
"Hm?"
"Do you wanna hang out sometime? Maybe... This weekend?" He asks me. I look at him with a frown.
"Hang out as in... Hang out?" I ask.
He nods. "Maybe go somewhere. Like the park... Or just get some soba... You wanna?"
I glance at the ground. "Um... Just friends, right?"
I face falters but he nods. "Just friends."
I sigh. "I'll think about it. We can discuss it tomorrow. See ya." I turn back to the Cafe until I feel a hand wrap around my wrist gently. I look back at the boy to see him looking at our hands with a confused look. When he sees me looking, he quickly lets go.
"Sorry I-... Don't know why I did that." He says.
I look at my wrist. Then there's a flash of that different world again. My wrist now has bruises and cuts. Red liquid drips from the slits and into the sink. I look at my other hand to see my fingers clutching a knife. My eyes widen and I take in a sharp breath. I stumble back, dropping the knife. My hand slips because of the wet blood and I land on my back. Pain shoots up my spine and I yelp. My back feels tender and I get up. I look down at my arms and scream.
My mind is wrenched out of that world and returns to my world... Or is this my world?
"Sumi?" I stare into concerned, mismatched eyes. I can't breath and I scurry back. "Hey. It's okay. I'm here." He moves forward and embraces me. I can't help but begin crying. I bury my face into his chest and he shifts to a more comfortable position and begins swaying me back and forth. He soothes me and I focus on his scent. It helps my breathing return to normal. We stay like that for a couple more minutes before I move away and wipe my face.
I look away and clear my throat. "Sorry."
There's a pause before he asks, "What... What happens?"
I sigh. "I'm not sure myself. I get... Sucked into a different world. The texture of it is so much different from ours and I can sometimes smell scents. I... Whenever that happens, it's like I'm in the body of a person of that world. This person... Is going through so much pain. She's... Hurting herself and is being hurt by a man. She has no friends or somebody to help her through this pain. I'm starting to get the feeling that... I'm her. I don't think I belong here."
"Why're you here then?" Todoroki asks.
I put my face in my hands. "I don't know. It doesn't make sense."
He takes my hand in his and I look at him. Then I realize I don't have my eye covered. I try to cover it up, but her takes my other hand and cups my cheek. "You're probably here for a reason, Sumi. I know that for sure. I also know that I'm glad you're here. And you're beautiful." He holds my gaze until he stands and puts his hands in his pockets. "I'll go now. See you tomorrow." With that, he begins walking down the alleyway.
