Chapter 34 - The Truth

I quietly climb over the fence that surrounds the facility that they're keeping my eye in. It's very early in the morning, the sun still hidden below the horizon. I run swiftly across the field and dip low into the tall garss when I'm close to it.

"Talk to me, Ren." I whisper, a tiny earpiece transmitter allowing me to speak with him.

I hear him yawn and roll my eye. "Alriiiight, let's do this." He says. "So. Your eye is deep underground in the science lab. Apparently, they've been studying it to find out more about that power and possibly make a weapon with it."

"Why the fuck would they do that?" I reply.

"Who knows. They're little assholes. Anyway, when you enter the building, you're not gonna have your quirk. Pure fighting skills until you're out of it. There's gonna be about 5 security guards patrolling and another four standing up on the corners of the roof. You see them?"

I gaze at the building, spotting two on the top and three walking around near the bottom. They look very strong with strong quirks. "Yep."

"Great. Just knock them out with your quirk and steal one of their cards to get inside." He says.

I sigh before putting my hands to the dirt. The connection to me and them sparks and I trick their brains into thinking they're asleep. They fall to the ground and I quickly dash up to one of the ones on the ground. I take their card and go to the big, secure door. I swipe the card before flicking the card and manipulating it so it returns to where it originally was. I release the effect on the guards, but make is seem like nothing happened when they wake up.

As I slip into the building, I feel my quirk slip away. It's a very strange feeling, but I continue. My steps are silent. "Ren. Talk."

"Alright, so be very careful. There's security guards everywhere in this place. Highly skilled. Armed. And huge. Go father in and take the first right. You need to go to the floor below you to steal a higher-up's ID card to get into the place you wanna go. One of the scientists will do." I follow his orders and take a right. The place is very concealed and is just concrete all the way through. I reach a door and open it, going down the metal stairs that are in a spiral.

When I reach the next door, I look into it before opening it. It was surprisingly unlocked. I slip in quietly but quickly dip into a closet when I almost run into security guards. When they pass, I make my way down the hall in the opposite direction they're going.

"Keep going that way and turn left. Second door on the left, there should be someone in there. It is locked, so you should just knock."

I look around to make sure nobody is coming before going up to the second door and knocking. I stand to the side until a girl comes out. She looks the other way before looking at me and her eyes widen, seeing me draped in my long coat and three fourths of my face covered by my metal and high tech mask. It's surprisingly very light. My hood is low and covers my only exposed skin in a dark shadow. So she only sees the glow of my malicious eye.

She tries going back in, but I grab her and twist her around so her back is against my chest and I cover her mouth. "Card. That's all I need or I'll take it off your dead body."

Ren had installed a voice changer in my plastic, black mask overnight. It makes me sound like I have a deep voice just so there's less of a risk of someone identifying my voice.

The girl quickly scrambles for her card, scared for her life. I take it with my gloves hands before releasing her. "You'll be in big trouble of you tell anyone. I'm the strongest person you'll ever meet, so please pretend you never saw me." I walk away and head back towards the stairs.
