Chapter 40 - My Future is Gone

I step out of the house, looking both ways before putting my hood up. And walking along the street. My boots make no sound as they land on the ground in rhythmic movement. I focus on lowering my presence as I walk through the city.

Police and pro heroes are already shooting through the sky, probably at the word of Aizawa. He's probably directed them to my victim.

I make the atoms around me change and create camouflage around me so none of them see me. In a couple minutes, my murder will be on the news and this city will be filled with pro heroes that are searching for me.

I create plates of solid air that lift me into the air. I look around before I spot familiar red wings and a man standing on the tower, gazing around. I smile before dispersing my atoms and putting them together again beside him.

"Looking for me?"

He looks at me from the corner of his eye. "So I do know you after all." He says.

I chuckle before walking on more plates of solid air. "You remembered. I'm surprised. I'd have thought you don't care about anyone other than yourself."

He keeps his face straight as he looks out at the city. "It took a while. But I eventually remembered. What do you want from me?"

I shrug. "Just wanted to talk."

There's a couple moments of silence before he speaks again. "Are you going to kill me?"

I glance at him before sighing. "No. Not you. You never really cared about it. Once I was captured, you moved on. So I'll let it slide." A strong breeze ruffles my long coat and causes his hair to sway.

"What a strange girl you are." He tells me.

I gaze at the sparkling lights of the city. "Did you plan this?" I ask.

He blinks. "I don't know what you mean."

I turn to him. "What a strange boy you are."

Before he can reply, I hear a voice call to me. Hawks had a tracker or something and had called them to me.

When I look to where the voice came from, Hawks immediately takes the chance to grab my wrist. I hear a click and not a moment after, I'm falling. Wind fills my ears and my long coat flaps. Hawks shoots towards me before I feel my body jerked upwards. He's caught me.

He holds on to me and he feels my hostility.

"If you fight me, you'll fall." He says as he glides his was down. I glare into his shoulder. I can't tell how close we are to the ground since I'm facing up.

I look at my wrist and see that he's put something on it. It's cancelling my quirk.

I feel a sudden panick rush through me before I spring into action. I swing my leg through the air, kicking at his wing. He loses his balance and I push away from him. I'm falling again but I turn in the air this time. I'm high above the ground but I'm falling towards a building.

I wait before I make contact with the ground and roll to break my fall. I grunt as the impact steals some of my breath.

I get on my feet as I'm still rolling and stumble to a stop just before I'm flung over the edge. I quickly look down at my wrist. The grey band is wrapped tightly on my wrist and seems to only be unlocked my a scan.

My body feels weird without my quirk. Then, a jolt of electricity shoots though me. I fall to the ground, my body spazzing out. I hear footsteps come up beside me before something hits my head and I black out.
