Chapter 26 - Brothers

I laugh, practically throwing up and clutching my stomach. "HAHAHA!!! WHAT THE FUCK!?!" I wipe tears from my eye.

"I said SHUTUP!!!" Shigaraki yells.

I laugh harder. "I can't... *wheeze* this is y'alls leader???" I die into breathless laughter.

Dabi glances at the irritated person. "She is right, Shiggy, you're pretty weird."

"No one asked for your opinion, Dabi." He grumbles back.

I'm still dying. "Oh my god, you're a man child. This is hilarious."

"Okay, you can shutup now." Shigaraki hisses.

I snort. "Gosh. Too much. You are way too much for me. No wonder you teamed up with Overhaul. You can barely handle yourself."

"Get out of here." He snaps.

I continue laughing as I walk towards the door. "Alright, alright. I'll leave. But you better learn to like me, because we're gonna be working together for a while."

Once I'm outside, I lean against the brick wall, looking up at the sky. The stars twinkle and my breath fogs in front of my eyes. Then, the door opens and out comes Dabi.

The silence stretches until he finally says something. "Does Shoto know?"

I look at him with a small smirk. "Yeah. But I hope he doesn't come to look for me."

"Hm... And if he does?" He asks.

I shrug. "I'll just have to fight him, I guess. I'm not able to go back."

"You're really set on this, huh?"

I chuckle. "They have something that belongs to me, and I still don't know why. So yeah, I'm pretty set on it. You... Will help me, right?" My gaze turns to him, sharp and dangerous.

He blinks at me before a smirk forms on his face. "You can be scary sometimes."

I look down at the ground that's now being sprinkled with snow. "I have to be now. I gotta be... A bit heartless I guess, if I'm gonna do this."

He chuckles. "You'll get used to it. I'll see you tomorrow."

I nod before he turns away and walks back towards the door. His hand stops at the handle. "Y'know... Not all villians are heartless. It's just that they've lost trust in this world and are scared of letting that heart be seen. So I think it would be better... If you still kept that heart of yours. It's the thing that'll keep you going. Especially with this thing you're about to do."

I don't reply but, instead, I just look at him. When I see him, for the first time since I've met him, he seems vulnerable. And when he meets my eye, I realize that I must be showing much emotion in my own eyes and he eventually looks away.

A silent message passes between us before he enters the building again, leaving me in the dark. I stay there for a couple moments before walking away, pondering on his words as I head back to my place.

"Who knew a man of such destruction can could have such deep words." I say to myself.

I walk through the night, nose and fingers turning a bit numb from the cold. The night is peaceful and it's oddly quiet. The city is still and the snow lands on my nose and lashes before melting. I'm walking through the street until I feel a presence behind me. I remain calm, hoping that they'll just go away eventually. They're walking behind me and I feel their gaze on the back of my head.

I continue walking, ignoring it. As long as they don't try anything, I won't bother with them.
