"SO what's the deal with Bella and Edward? They seem to be getting pretty close." Astrid asked you, nodding her head in the direction of the two at the salad bar.

"Do you really care? Or is it because of your hate for Edward?" you teased, but she was in such an angry state that she couldn't pick up your tone.

"I was kidding." you backed away, leaning back in your seat.

You rolled your eyes, exhaling deeply as you too went to look at them. They have been getting close lately, maybe you would ask Bella about it later.

Out of jealousy, Mike began to stare holes into the back of Edward's head, not enjoying how close the two were standing to each other, how Bella was the only girl (besides his sisters) that he would talk to, or how they both knew of each other's existence in the first place.

You looked in the direction of the Cullen table, yet again getting lost staring at the the features of the petite, pixie-haired girl.

"Alice is really pretty, don't you think?" you asked Astrid before you could stop yourself.

"Why do you care?" she asked harshly before she could stop herself.

"I don't, I just... think she's pretty." you replied, taken aback by her hostility.

Astrid looked over at Alice and they made eye contact. Her boyfriend jasper's grip instinctively tightened around her.

"I'm gonna go, I'll see you later." you grabbed your belongings, heading to the bathroom.

"Y/n, wait, I didn't mean-"

"It's whatever, I'll see you later." you turned to leave, trying your hardest to speak in a normal tone.

"Bella, you invited him to the beach?"

"I thought it would be a good opportunity for us to ... I don't know- hang out," she replied, scribbling down her homework.

"Ohh, you wanna hang out with the pretty boy now?" you joked.

"I feel like no one ever invites him anywhere." she shook her head.

She was trying to convince you that this was a normal thing that everyone did. It so clearly wasn't.

"Maybe there's a reason for that."

"He thinks he's a bad guy." she defended him.

"Well, how can you be sure he's not?"

The silence after that was all you needed. Everyone seemed to have an abnormal reaction when he was around. Something about him was off.

"Alright, so what... about space girl. I saw you storming away from her today what happened there?" Bella asked.

You scoffed, "space girl?"

"I can never remember her name! And when you told me, I could've sworn you said asteroid." she giggled after that.

You joined in the laughter, "She was just a little mad." you explained.

"Why?"

"I don't know. It was just one of those days for her, I guess."

She nodded, trying her best to understand.
Suddenly the cold air started to cling to your skin, goosebumps rising up your skin as you flashed back to the harsh glare astrid gave you. Even if it was for a second, you've never felt more intimidated by someone.
