warnings; swearing.

previously; ryn looked at you, smile still present and sighed. "y/n used to be my love. now she's astrid's." she explained, sitting hope between the two of you. "but she will always have a place in my heart, and i'll always have a place in hers."

she had worded the situation perfectly and you hadn't even spoken to her about it. that was a thing you always favored with ryn. she understood people, found that place in their mind that she could read without any special abilities. she was empathic and passionate, making her so likeable. she was a perfect fit to be a mother.

UPON astrid's arrival back home she was very weak, carried by her family to the depths of the ocean where she was taken to a healer. the healer restored astrid's energy and set her to rest. astrid knew it, everyone did, althea was furious. she had been wanting to contact her daughter for weeks however, she had found traveleing to land brought attention upon the rest of the colony and the last thing she wanted to do was expose her kind while the alpha mermaid herself was on land.

althea wasnt so happy having such a young siren on the job as alpha. she found it irresponsible, she found it a bad choice in general. on top of the fact that during her time on land she had managed to fall in love with the same person her daughter had. the same reason that the entire colony had traveled back up to forks in the first place. you seemed to be causing alot of problems you didnt even know existed.

your mother had heard your call, the one using astrid's voice. although cordelia had specifically told astrid about letting you near the ocean- and she thought she made her point pretty clear - she still allowed you too. cordelia couldnt drag you away, she had no place to stay. with her almost permanent residence being in the ocean, cordelia had no place to take you. leaving you stuck in forks, stuck with astrid.

if this was how she was going to react when she found out about your close proximity with the rest of the colony, no one could even begin to imagine her reaction if she knew how close you were to vampires only a few months ago, she'd go absolutely nuts.

ryn had really touched your heart with her sentiment. she was always so soft and kind with the way she expressed her affection. though she got her point through without fail. you dipped your head down, sighing. "what do you need me to do, ryn?"

she knew exactly what you meant, and to say the least she was surprised with how ready you were. it was breaking you to the seams having imagined her child not being able to live in peace because every move you made, called out to her. hope didn't understand why she always had the urge to leave the ocean, she hadn't even seen what was above the water but it still called out to her, repeatedly, like a mantra.

it didn't bother ryn, it was only a slight inconvenience. here she was, trying to help her child adjust underwater and all she could think about was running away to you. it wasn't fair to you either. you were just beginning to figure yourself out and the world as you never knew it. your dreams were showing you things and you had to just take it. they were telling you that you weren't normal and now that you've unlocked that side of yourself it could never be contained again.
