I woke up and it was time to start the day. Tony was already gone. He left for work earlier because I remembered him kissing me on the forehead. I went to the bathroom to clean up and got dressed for the day.

My cycles were coming back to normal since I lost the baby. I had asked to be put on birth control to keep us from having to go through that again. Right now wouldn't be best to have a baby, we were just really starting our careers. Although the pain of losing the baby killed me inside, and I mostly grieved to myself. I was able to come to conclusions that God took him or her because He needed them more. I very much believed in the Lord. I used to go to church with my parents, however that stopped when we argued about Tony. They still hope and believe that the right guy is out there for me. I don't like when they think that, the right guy is with me now! And if they didn't want to accept him, then they didn't have to accept me.

I was glad that they were starting to come around. They finally understood that he meant the world to me and that I loved him very much. I guess I would be that way too, if I were a mother and my daughter met someone who didn't give me good vibes, I would be concerned too. But there comes a point in your life that you have to let your kids make their own decisions, and have their own identities.

I pulled up to the shop and parked on the side road. It was in a good part of town. I really enjoyed being an owner of my own business. I had hired two interns to start today. One I wanted to cut hair with me, and the other to do the bookkeeping and write in appointments and so on. Both girls waited patiently for me as I came to open the door.

"Good morning!" one girl said, and the other nodded, "Hey."

"It's great you guys came, are you ready to start Trish and Sandy?" I squinted my eyes and looked at them to be sure I said their names right. They both nodded. Right away I had them set up, and a half hour later a customer came in. I monitored how they did throughout the day, and so far, these were my ladies!

"Right this way." The dark skinned "Trish" said. I had to do a double look; I must have missed him coming in. It was Jake, and he was walking my way.

"Hey Mindy, it's good to see you again." He sat down at Sandys chair, "I heard you had a shop and I wanted to check it out." He looked around. "By the way it looks awesome and I am really proud of you."

"Heard?" I wanted to run by that again. Who told him I opened my own shop?

"Your mother." Damn her! "I ran into her at the supermarket, and she told me you were doing well for yourself."

"Thank you, I've been keeping myself busy." I tried to break the conversation because he was the one who broke it off with me! "Sandy will get you ready." And I nodded towards her direction.

I tried to stay focused on my client's hair, but I still couldn't stop myself from sneaking a peak at him. He looked mature, and like he'd just gotten off a business meeting. As I knew before, he worked as a computer programmer at one of the top best businesses. He must be wearing contacts as he didn't have his glasses on, I guessed. But still, nothing as I felt for Tony. Tony just gets to me in ways that Jake hadn't. And I loved Tony, I believed he was going to be my future husband one day.

Sandy finished up his hair and he thanked her. "Pay up front." Sandy said.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Jake paused to ask me. I looked over quickly as I was finishing up.

"I can't right now I have another customer waiting." I went back to work, "Maybe another time." And nodded to him. Another time? Why the hell would I say something like that? THERE WAS GOING TO BE NO OTHER TIME!!

"It's cool." He said as he paid Trish and she set him in the books. "Another time." He put on his sunglasses and walked out the door. What the hell was that? Why did he have to walk into my store? I was going to flip out on my mother!
