Chapter 29 {Ice Skating}

All the events shown occur after the defeat of the abnormal.

"Have you heard about those new shoe things? I heard they're called ice skates. This thing has blades at the bottom and lets you glide on ice." You heard two people make a comment about ice skates, and you seemed to be interested in them. You purchased two pairs of skates in the skate store. 

As he was cleaning the cabin you and the other scouts stayed in, Eren asked "What are those?" "You've never heard of these? They're supposed to make you glide on ice!" You exclaimed, wearing a bright smile. "They're magical?" Sasha glanced toward you to take a closer look at your skates. "Uh, no, I mean at the bottom there is just a blade." You replied as Sasha foolishly cut her finger on the edge of the blade. "You idiot!" Connie yelled, scolding Sasha as he bandaged her finger. "If there's something sharp, don't go ahead and stab yourself with it!" 

"Let's try them out!" You grabbed Eren's hand, and the two of you went to the nearby frozen lake right beside your cabin. On your ice skates, you put your foot on the ice. After losing your balance at first, you got yourself back on track. "See! It's not that bad after all." You dropped to the ground right after saying that line, everyone laughed at you. You kept tripping and falling over as you tried to get back up, and everyone kept laughing. You just laid on the ice, staring up into the sky, giving up on trying to get up. You complained, "This is more difficult than I expected." 

You got back up once everyone had gone to get skates from the town since nobody was there to make fun of you anymore. Just as you were getting up on your feet, Eren fell on top of you and your faces were so close together. "What should I do?! " Eren yelled in his head, staring into your E/C eyes. You wondered why he wouldn't pull himself off of you, even if you wanted him to stay there forever. Eren only realized that the ice was cracking when he looked somewhere else. He grabbed your hand and pulled you up, and you both got off the ice. "That was a close one!" You yelled, looking at the crack in the ice. "I thought the ice was entirely solid... Anyway, are you okay?" He put his hands on your soft pink cheeks. You smiled with your eyes closed and said, "I'm fine. We should tell the others about the ice." 

You happened to run into Sasha running briskly and excited to try out her skates. "The ice cracked?! We can't go skating?!" complained Sasha. "Yeah, sorry about that." "I'm glad you're okay though, Y/N!" Jean was just about to put his hand on your head when Eren, overprotective as he is, gave Jean a look that was enough to scare Jean. And so, Jean pulled back his hand from patting your head. "There's still one lake nearby! We can ice skate there!" exclaimed Historia. 

"S-So who's going first?" Sasha stammered. "Why are you scared? You were the one who was so eager about this!" Connie said. Mikasa let out a small sigh and stepped onto the ice. She looked like an expert for her first time. All of you stared at Mikasa as she glided gracefully across the ice with no problem. Eren and you got on the ice together and you tried learning how to skate as you held hands and took little steps. Jean got on the ice because of Eren, he wanted to prove his proficiency over Eren. All of you found it oddly funny that Connie tripped over, but he enjoyed it. "What's wrong Armin? You don't want to get on the ice?" You asked as you got the hang of moving alone on the ice. "What if I fall through the ice? What if the ice cracks? What if everyone makes fun of me if I fall?" "Armin, none of that's gonna happen you fool!" Eren scolded. Sasha was eating chips while on the ice. 

"When can we do that again?!" Connie yelled enthusiastically as you all walked back to the cabin. Armin yelled, as you all laughed at him: "Again? I never want to get on the ice again!"
