a month later.

"happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to midoriya, happy birthday to you!"

cheers and claps sound throughout the classroom as each student wish izuku a happy birthday. izuku's cheeks are flushed red, not used to having so much attention on him. he happily thanks each of his classmates and his teachers, his eyes crescent moon shaped.

"here, midoriya! someone told us that you like stickers!" one of izuku's teachers, nagai yuriko, hands him several sheets of all might stickers. she winks at a certain ruby-eyed boy in the back, giggling when he lifts his index finger to his lips and makes a shushing motion.

izuku's eyes immediately light up, his smile widening as he excitedly takes the stickers with both hands. "thank you sensei!" several of izuku's classmates surround him all at once, wanting to take a peek at the stickers their teacher gave izuku. some of them gush at the stickers while others whine at how 'lucky' izuku is.

"now, now, everyone settle down," a stern but gentle voice silences the chatter of the students, everyone blinking at their other teacher, koyanagi taro. his yellow eyes scan the room as he waits for everyone to quiet down. "we're going to bring out the cake and some snacks but i need all of you to help clean up your area from earlier's art activity, okay?"

"yes sir!" the whole class breaks up into small groups as they all scramble to go clean up their areas. taro smiles fondly before he starts to head with yuriko to get the cake and snacks.

"hey, sensei," katsuki goes up to taro and taps on his hip to get his attention. "can i help bring out the snacks?"

"of course you can, bakugo!" taro grins, nodding immediately. "follow us."

izuku hurriedly runs to his cubby to put the stickers into his yellow all might backpack. once the stickers are inside, izuku zips up the bag and heads to his area to clean. he gasps when he sees a big card on his group's table with 'happy birthday!' written in the front. several heroes are drawn on the bottom of the card, with all might right in the middle. this is amazing! did my friends do this?

"happy birthday, izuku-kun! we all worked on it during naptime. nagai sensei helped us write happy birthday!" one of izuku's friends, toshiaki yamanaka says. the light blue-haired boy gives izuku a big smile, his orange eyes shining with happiness. "we all signed it!" well everyone except kojima-kun.

nodding, izuku picks up the card and opens it, immediately being met with signatures and doodles from everyone in the class. his eyes start to water as he takes his time reading everyone's little messages. sniffling, he looks up at toshiaki and pulls him in for a hug. "thank you, toshiaki-kun! thank you, everyone, i really appreciate it!"

toshiaki giggles as he hugs izuku back, muttering a small 'you're welcome' to him. other students join the group hug, making izuku burst into tears of happiness. izuku giggles as some of the boys ruffle his hair, teasing him.

"hey, izuku-kun, has your quirk come in?" a girl with small, pink pigtails asks izuku, curiosity in her eyes. "when i turned four a couple of months ago, it came in the second i woke up on my birthday!"

izuku shakes his head, earning several disappointed sighs from some of his classmates that were excited to see what kind of quirk izuku would get. "no, not yet! but it's okay because it'll probably come in later!"
