tenshi's revival

summary: izuku finally finds out what his dormant quirk is.

notes: "tenshi" means angel.

a bright, white light fills izuku's vision as his eyes fly open, his limbs flexing in shock. everything is blurry, heavy pants coming out from izuku's lips. what? was...was that all a dream? izuku palms his chest, realizing that yes, he is breathing. his eyelashes faintly bat against his eyelids as he blinks, slowly becoming conscious of his entire surroundings. his muscles feel weak, just like his energy and mind. he lets out a tired sigh, groaning as a pounding headache starts.

as his vision clears, he's met with a pitch-black ceiling. am i dead? where am i?

izuku then feels a liquid around his entire body, making him jolt up. his eyebrows furrow in confusion as he looks down at his limbs, realizing the clothing he had been wearing isn't damaged and that his skin is no longer shades of blue and black. his eyes widen as he touches the floor, watching as it ripples like a pond. he frowns, the lack of wetness of the black liquid reminding him of the place where most of his nightmares would occur.

wait.

this looks and feels so much like my nightmares...but it's different this time. izuku tries to stand for a moment, only for his legs to give out, shaky and weak.

"you shouldn't exert yourself, your body is really weak."

a clear, modulated voice grabs izuku's attention, his eyes widening when he lifts his gaze and is met with himself. wait, myself?

a shocked gasp slips from izuku's lips as he's met with his own reflection. but it's not a reflection, he immediately realizes when the person leans forward and clutches both of his hands, their touch as cold as ice. izuku doesn't say anything as he takes in the spitting image of himself, confusion destroying any coherent thought.

a boy as old as izuku faces him, and if it isn't for some of the obvious differences, anyone would think they are twins. the boy has white hair, glowing white eyes that have no black pupils. he also has the same freckles as izuku, but instead, they're white. his skin is a bit paler than izuku's, but besides the contrast in the color of their hair, eyes, and freckles, they're identical. it makes izuku try to back away, wary of the boy in front of him.

"hi, izuku," his eyes are crescent-shaped as a smile forms on the boy's face, identical to the smile izuku makes when he grins widely. izuku finally comes out of his shock, his eyes narrowing in suspicion as he notices a soft, white glow outlining the boy's figure, almost like an aura.

the boy lets go of izuku's hands, moving to stand back on his feet. he offers one of his hands to izuku, and that's when izuku notices that the boy is wearing an outfit eerily similar to his. because it is mine!

"who are you?" izuku asks harshly, glaring at the boy's hand. "you...i don't have a twin brother."

the boy lets out a small laugh, his milky eyes sparkling for a second. "to put it simply, i'm you, izuku."

"i don't understand."

"i'm part of your quirk izuku," the boy sits back down next to izuku, realizing he might seem threatening if he towers over izuku. "i'm not dangerous, i promise."

"my...my quirk?" izuku shakes his head in disbelief, pointing to his mouth. "that's not true. my quirk is like my fa-" he lets out a shaky breath before clearing his throat, dropping his gaze to the floor, seeing his own reflection on the black liquid. "i have a fire quirk."

"yes, well, i know that," the boy nods, his white curls bouncing with the movement. "but i'm talking about your 'dormant' quirk, izuku." izuku's eyebrow raises, shooting another confused glance at the boy. the glowing boy sighs, throwing his head back slightly.
