"Baby," I heard Sam's voice say. There was a light brush of his hand up against my arm causing my eyes to open. I looked over at him and he glanced over at me. "We're almost there," he said softly. I let out a yawn and looked to see if Raina was asleep. She was sitting peacefully staring at her surroundings and a small smile grew on my face. "You were talking in your sleep."
"I was?" I grinned and he chuckled a bit and nodded. The music flowed throughout the car from the radio and I looked around and saw that we were pulling into a driveway that had many other cars in it. My eyes grew wide when I saw the number and an anxious feeling grew in the pit of my stomach. There was going to be so many people, and I was already nervous enough to meet his parents let alone his whole neighborhood. He parked behind a black Jeep, and turned off the car. I took a deep breath and my eyes met with his. He didn't say anything but from the look he gave me it was as if he was telling me that everything was going to be okay. We stepped out of the car, and while he grabbed some of our bags, I grabbed Raina and made sure her outfit wasn't messed up.
"Ready?" Sam smiled. I nodded and with an indescribable nervousness taking over my body I followed him to the front door. He walked in and held the door open for me and there was a loud commotion. "Hey," Sam greeted everyone. They all smiled when they saw me - knowing exactly who I was. "Everyone this is my girlfriend Baylor and her daughter Raina."
"Hi," I smiled softly. A woman who I assumed to be his mother hugged her son immediately and worked her way over to Raina and I.
"Oh she's beautiful," she smiled. "She looks like you."
"Thank you," I nodded. I followed Sam up to the second level and we walked into his bedroom. He rested the bags on the floor and turned around to show of a cheeky grin. "There's a lot of people here," I laughed nervously.
"But they're all excited to meet you," he pecked my forehead and Raina started to fuss when he didn't show her any attention. He smirked and picked her up and kissed both of her cheeks. "Here, let's go meet everyone." I followed him back downstairs and he introduced me to the crowd. I met his siblings, and his close friends, and his mother could not get enough of Raina. While Sam caught up with his brother and father, his mother invited me into the kitchen so we could talk without being disrupted by the noisy boys in the front room.
"Sam has talked so much about you," his mother laughed lightly. "When he first showed me your picture I couldn't believe how beautiful you were, and then he showed me your daughter and she's practically a clone of you."
"Thank you, Mrs. Wilkinson," I smiled.
"Oh, please. Call me Lori," Mrs. Wilkinson patted my hand. "So Sam tells me that you're moving out to California with him."
"Yeah my father lives out there, and I haven't seen him since I was a baby so it's going to be really convenient to be out there. I won't be completely alone," I adjusted Raina on my chest so she was sitting comfortably, and the entire time she studied Sam's mother. I continued to talk with Lori, silently praising that she was laid-back and very kind unlike Alex's mother. Sam's sister Emily joined the conversation, and played with Raina for a little while Lori and I talked to get to know each other just a bit more. Sam had already told her so much about me except for the awful things that had happened to me.
"Hey, babe," Sam said sitting in the seat next to me. I smiled at him and he slipped his arm around my waist. "Is everything going alright in here? Mom you're not scaring her away are you?" His mother let out a laugh and I smirked.
"I think if I can handle you I can handle anyone," I teased causing him to narrow his eyes playfully.
"We were just talking about embarrassing stories from your childhood," his mother joked. Sam playfully rolled his eyes and let out a sigh. "Long drive I'm assuming?" Sam nodded and rested his head on my shoulder.
"The boys want to go out with us," he mumbled finally.
"What about Raina?" I looked down at him.
"Oh I wouldn't mind watching her," Lori spoke up. "She won't let Emily out of her sight." I smiled at Raina who was wearing a bright grin on her face while she sat with Emily.
"Are you sure?" I didn't want to give them the impression that I just left my daughter. Lori nodded and Sam sat up. "Thank you so much."
"It's a pleasure," she smiled. "You two need to go have some fun, and trust me you will love these boys. They're very fun to be around, but they are a bit ornery." Sam grabbed my hand and I waved goodbye to everyone and kissed Raina on the forehead. I followed Sam and his friends out of the house and into the car. There was Nate who I had heard a lot about, he was the one who primarily made music with Sam. He also had two friends named Jack, but they told me that it would be easy to just refer to them by their last names: Johnson and Gilinsky.
All four boys decided on a restaurant since they all agreed that they were starved, and they all cracked jokes which always caused an eruption of laughter. I was sat in between Nate and Sam who were arguing over a song lyric.
"You guys are both dumbasses," Gilinsky shook his head. He showed us his phone that had the correct version of the lyrics and it turned out that both of the two boys were wrong.
"So, Baylor where are you from?" Johnson asked as we waited for our order at the restaurant.
"Originally Pennsylvania but I grew up in Illinois," I said simply. He smiled and nodded.
"Sam told us you're a college girl," Gilinsky chuckled and I nodded. "What are you majoring in?"
"Business; I've always wanted to be a CEO, I'm sure it sounds odd," I laughed nervously. Sam smiled over at me and we all continued to talk. They shared humorous stories with me, and embarrassing stories about things that had Sam had done. I couldn't remember a time that I had laughed more than when I was sitting at that table with those four guys.
"So how's Sam with the baby?" Nate asked while Sam was in the restroom.
"He's really great; Raina loves him. If you didn't know any better you would think he's actually her father," I used the straw in my glass to stir the sugary substance it contained.
"He was telling me that," Nate nodded. "I'm just glad he finally has someone who will keep him grounded, you know? I've heard so much about you, and the baby. He really loves you guys."
"We love him, too," I smiled.
"Oh, shit," Sam said as he nearly tripped over his own feet. I let out a small laugh and he sat back down beside me.
"So please tell me you're never having kids with him right?" Johnson smirked at me. I looked at him confused as well as with the other guys. "He has this weird ass daddy kink. Your kids will call him daddy and he'll get a boner." Johnson joked causing us all to explode into laughter.
"Rough me up and call me daddy," Gilinsky teased.
"You guys are fucking idiots," Sam said in between laughs. Once we finished our meal we headed outside back to the car but we were stopped by a group of girls who surrounded the boys and asked for pictures and autographs. The boys hurriedly tried to get me in the car hoping that no one saw me so I wouldn't get mobbed, but as soon as Sam grabbed my hand to help me in the car a flash went off. I sat in the car listening to the squeals and saw the multiple flashes go off. It was a few minutes until the boys were back in the car and Sam looked at me with a worried expression. "Do you think they got it?"
"Um," Gilinsky handed us his phone and my stomach dropped when I saw the picture.
"Shit," Sam mumbled.
