"Are you sure you're fine staying here for awhile?" I asked Sam concerned. I had to leave to go pick up Raina and meet Alex, but I didn't want Sam to be bored.

"Yeah, babe I'll probably just work out some new lyrics or something," he gave me a reassuring smile causing his eyes to glimmer. I grinned and he pulled me in for a hug. He was so warm, and he felt safe. He kissed my forehead and then gently on my lips. I waved goodbye, grabbed my keys and shut the door tightly behind me. I was incredibly nervous about meeting Alex, but I was trying to give myself fake confidence. I knew that I couldn't let Alex see that I was vulnerable--I needed to look strong.

I climbed in my car and looked at myself in the rearview mirror. My hair was brushed and hung loosely, I had light makeup on--Sam told me he liked it when I let more of my natural side show. I was starting to feel better about myself, but I knew that I could only thank Sam. I started the car after releasing a deep sigh, and I jumped from how loud Sam had the radio volume set. I let out a airy laugh as I turned it down a few notches, and then I was on my way to Melody's.

I had packed the cutest outfit for Raina, and I couldn't wait to see her in it. Of course Alex didn't deserve to see her all dressed up, but I figured I would do it to show what he has missed out on. I sang along quietly to the radio--something that was incredibly rare for me to do. I usually just sat quietly in the car, but minute by minute Sam was teaching me how to be more lifely, and relaxed. When I pulled into Melody's apartment complex I had convinced myself that everything was going to be okay, because once I got all of this over with Raina and I were going to go home to someone who really loved and cherished us.

"Ooh, don't you look good," Melody smiled as I walked into her apartment. I giggled. "You seem so happy, what's the occasion?"

"I'm just trying to be happier," I shrugged causing her to smile.

"I like what he's doing to you," she said. I walked into the living room and saw that Raina was waking up from a nap. "Oh, looks like Sleeping Beauty is awake," Melody said referring to Raina. I smiled and picked her up and kissed her forehead.

"Hi, baby," I said holding her in my arms. She cooed when she saw my face and it made my heart grow warm. "This outfit looks so cute on her," I said to Melody.

"I know, she looks adorable." She had on a white long sleeve shirt, with pink embroidery, dark wash jeans, and was wearing a black cardigan to top off her outfit. She also had on a pair of black boots, and a white bow headband. "I swear she has to be one of the best dressed kids in town." I grinned.

"Alright, time to go get some lunch," I sighed. Melody looked at me. "I'm meeting Alex at Lunar, he wants to talk about setting up visitation."

"How do you feel about that?" She asked sitting down on the couch, and I set next to her. I shrugged.

"I'm just confused as why he wants to do it now. In the nine months that I carried her, and the three months she's been alive he's wanted nothing to do with her. Now he bumps into me at some random restaurant, finds my cell phone number and calls me? He even had enough nerve to shoot daggering glares at Sam while he held her," I rolled my eyes. "It's alright, I guess. I don't want to be one of those mothers that intentionally keeps their child away from their father."

"What does Sam have to say about all of it?" She asked.

"He didn't really say anything. He said that he's here for me all of the way, and he loves the both of us."

"He's not trying to be her father is he? He's not her father if he's trying to be, whether anyone likes it or not Alex is," she said with a hint of harshness. I furrowed my eyebrows.
