So clearly the break didn't last very long. Lol I just needed a breather, but here's an update that I spent the past two days on. I'm trying to work on my technique and writing style. I'm trying to make it more detailed and take more time on the updates because I want it to be the best quality it can be for you guys 😊
...............................................The office smelled damp and musty, but I didn't expect anything better from the worn down courthouse. The woman handed me the thick packet that contained multiple papers I would have to fill out. The woman sitting behind the counter blankly stared back at me. "Fill this out and bring it back," she said emotionless. I pursed my lips a little and nodded simply. I turned on my heels and walked out of the courthouse while heaving a deep sigh. I never thought it would come to the point where I would have to take legal action when it came to him. I walked briskly to my car to escape the harsh winds and cold bitterness. I drove home catching small glimpses of my right eye in the rear view mirror - various shades of purple and blue decorated the busted skin making me nauseous at the sight. The sun was hidden behind deep gray clouds signaling that there was a storm on its way. I hummed lightly to myself as I pulled into my apartment complex, and parked in my usual spot. The music played dimly on the radio, and I sat staring blankly ahead of me. I caught another glimpse of myself and anger bubbled inside of me. I beat my hands off of the steering wheel and let out a loud cry of frustration.
None of what had happened was part of the plan, and I couldn't even protect myself from him. I rested my head in my hands while my elbows rested on the steering wheel. The palms of my hands covered my closed eyes, and brushed up against my bruises causing more pain than expected. Once my self pity session was over I turned off the car and walked up the steep wooden stairs to my apartment. I opened the door and walked in, kicked off my shoes and closed the door behind me. I didn't hear any noise and I grew concerned as I walked around the corner. Sam and Raina weren't in the living room, and my heart rate rapidly grew as my mind thought up all of the worst possibilities. "Sam?" I called out. I didn't hear a thing, and my breathing became still. I raced down the hall checking Raina's room - nothing. I ran into my bedroom and saw them both napping on the bed. I let out a deep sigh. "Thank God," I mumbled to myself and placed my hand over my pounding heart.
"Babe?" A groggy voice escaped Sam's lips as his left eye peeked open.
"Yeah," I breathed standing in the doorway. "You guys are so cute," I giggled to myself, as Raina slept soundly against his chest and his eyes were peeked open studying my frame. A small smile formed on his lips and he rubbed his eyes. He kissed her forehead and swiftly wiggled his way out of her grasp.
"How did everything go?" He asked walking over to me. I nodded and folded my arms over my chest and leaned my head up against the door frame. He smiled at me and kissed my cheeks, and sleepily rested his chin on the top of my head. "She fell asleep as soon as you left, and then I must have dozed off as well."
"You two are always sleeping," I grinned earning a nose scrunch from him. "She's a growing baby, so what's your excuse?" I smirked teasing him.
"Tour," he replied with ease. I nodded and went to stand up straight but he stopped me while raising his eyebrow. "Have you been crying?"
"I'm okay," I said trying to brush off the situation but he stopped me. "I'm okay, I swear. It's just been a long week," I sighed. "Can you put her in her crib please?" I walked down the hallway and back into the living room and sat down to look through the restraining order packet. Most of the pages consisted of paragraph of paragraph of repeated points just stated in a different way. I frowned when I read through some of it, and saw all of the different places I would have to sign and date. "Why do I have to go through a huge packet just to keep him away from me?" I rolled my eyes as Sam sat down beside me. He looked over my shoulder studying everything that was on the different pages. "Do you have an ink pen?" I asked him. He laughed and I looked up at him unsure of what he found amusing. "What?"
