Evelyn Malfoy wore her usual Slytherin robes as she walked through the Hogwarts corridors. Her ears were decorated with a silver snake ear cuff with then dangling muggle safety pins for earrings A single ring laid on her hand which had been a gift from her cousin Nymphadora Tonks, whose mother had been disowned from the Black family from marrying a muggleborn.
Evelyn and Tonk's lettered when she was younger, having a close bond from Narcissa insisting they know one another. Soon enough, Lucius had found out on the secret letters and meetings and taken Evelyn's owl, Peach, to prevent contact. He of course scolded his own wife for 'disobeying him', which was no sight Evelyn liked to see.
The ring was beautiful but so simple at the same time. It was a small gold band with tiny diamond flowers dotted on the front side. There was a termina ring and had a small light green gem in the middle of some sort of celestial flower or star with dotted diamonds around it. Evelyn loved it with all her heart, her heart warming at the ring on occasion as memories filled her head.
A quick and startled huff left her lips as someone stepped in front of her making her stop mid step. It was a fourth year boy. She remembered him slightly.
"H-hi." The boy stuttered nervously, his robes showing him to be a Ravenclaw. Oh she remembered him. He was a fourth year now. She'd flirted with him the last year, simple glances and winks. Nothing much but enough to see he'd gotten the wrong idea. All she did it for was for the satisfaction on his flushed face.
"What is it?" Evelyn said in an overly kind tone, her annoyance clear. The boy swallowed. Fred and George Weasley were laughing and talking about something with a few fellow Gryffindor's before stopping at the sight of Evelyn. She looked at him, his height an inch below her own. He didn't reply and she began to go off.
"Wait." The boy looked extremely shocked on her reaction to him. He grabbed her hand.
"Don't you dare touch me." The Ravenclaw stood dumbfounded, letting her go. Evelyn rolled her eyes and bent down to his level. "You were only a bit of fun."
"You said that you liked me." He looked on the verge of tears which was odd as he seemed to be a bit old for that. She grunted a bit as she knew damned well she never said that.
Evelyn tapped his nose making him step back slightly. "Oh please. As if I could fall for any man. Or, boy." She looked him up and down and the Ravenclaw puffed his chest.
"Why's that exactly?" Fred Weasley stepped forward though George was trying to pull him back. Evelyn turned to him, her hair swinging as she moved her head and swaying a bit before going still. Fred bit the inside of his cheek.
"Why's what?" Evelyn asked a bit confused on why he was stepping in. This allowed the Ravenclaw boy to run away in embarrassment. She moved her body to be face to face with the redhead as he glared down at her. "This height difference is intimidating you know. How tall are you exactly? Six foot-ish? I'm only five-eight."
"Why did you say you could never fall for anyone?" Fred repeated his question, ignoring her small talk on their height. "I'm only curious, love." Students pass them as them bickering was no real shocker.
"Curiosity did kill the cat." Evelyn hummed, folding her robe sleeves to stay up right. A small paper peered into the light which Fred noticed and his mind wandered on ideas of what the paper could be. Fred let his arms fall behind his back and connected them.
"Since I'm obviously attractive most boys are physically attracted to me. My body, face, certain parts of my body." Fred went red after a hot second in realization of what she spoke about. Evelyn noticed, grinning she continued. "They don't want the work of having me as a girlfriend, Mr. Weasley. Boys are only up for sex. Now excuse me I have something to take care of."
Evelyn shoved her shoulder against Fred's arm as she passed. He turned around to watch her walk off. She walked up the steps and out of sight. Her destination had been the Astronomy Tower. She went there a lot to be alone which felt cliché as many students did. This time as soon as she entered she broke into sobs and fell to the floor. She pressed her wrist to one of her eyes as her other arm held her up right on the floor. A letter was tucked in her robes from her parents stating she'd have an arranged marriage in the coming years.
