Voldemort was dead. Harry had killed him in the great hall as everyone watched. The story of Harry Potter, the boy who lived, came to an end with him as the wizarding worlds hero. Evelyn knew his life had to have been a living hell, not even being able to go a year or two without a traumatic event.
Evelyn felt out of place in the school. Kids cheered and chanted at the victory but still scowled at her. She would have as well if she were them so she couldn't be too upset. She was a traitor of a sort. Actually, not really 'of a sort'. Evelyn was a traitor.
Her body had bruises, dirt and scratches scattered around randomly. She wore a black top with long sleeves. It kept her warm on the rather cold morning. The war had started around late evening so that meant they'd been battling all night. Her outfit was cut up and the basic jeans she wore know had a large hole on her shin where a large scratch was noticeable from the open hole.
Evelyn's hair was messy. She smoothed it down with her hand. It stopped around just below her shoulder. Her shoes were worn and would have to be trashed. Evelyn looked into the Great Hall through the open door. People mourned deaths and sat with their last living friends and family. Looking around the room, she quickly found her family. Well, the remaining ones.
Evelyn walked down to her parents and brother. They sat alone and quietly. Draco was sat on a step below his mother and father. When Narcissa caught sight of her daughter walking toward them, she sparked up to her feet and opened her arms.
"Evelyn." She whispered, her emotion clear through her cracky tone. Evelyn let the hug happen as truly, she was glad they were alright. Though her family weren't exactly very good people in a whole, she still loved them. "I'm so glad your alright."
When the two parted, Lucius was stood at his wife's side. With no words he brought Evelyn into a quick hug, kissing her head before parting. Evelyn knew he loved her no matter how much he hated her choices in life. Evelyn quickly stepped over to Draco, tears glossing her eyes. He stood up and the two siblings hugged one another. It was a tight and rather long, emotional hug. Draco wouldn't like to admit it but he was a bit teary.
Not long later, she was informed of the death of her aunt, Bellatrix. She sat beside Draco on the steps, her mother holding her hand as she sat beside her and Lucius standing. She wasn't too hurt. Bellatrix wasn't really in her life all that much as she'd gone to Azkaban when she was just a toddler. The death that really crushed her was Tonks.
An hour had passed. Evelyn sat beside Draco, her arm curled around him. Their parents had gone somewhere. She couldn't remember where as when Narcissa was telling her, her voice was muffled. The hall was still loud with cheers and tears as people grieved and celebrated the day.
One loud yell brought her head up from the floor. She looked around, clueless before a second yell brought her eyes to a man. A man with freckles all over. A man with bright red hair and scratches over his skin. A man with someone almost identical to himself beside him, the two of them holding hands.
"Freddie?" Evelyn mumbled, no one hearing it. Not even herself.
Fred stood across the hall with his family as they entered the hall to meet up with everyone. He had glossy eyes. He'd been crying. Evelyn stood up and that made Fred begin to walk over to her. Evelyn hadn't noticed her legs moving toward him as well. Soon enough she'd stopped and Fred began to run. He ran until their bodies crashed into a warm hug. His arms were so tight around her back she felt she'd suffocate. Before she could react, Fred pulled away and held her jaw. His glossy eyes were now allowing tears to fall as he kissed her forehead.
"Oh, Evelyn. I love you I love you I love you I love you." Fred whispered the three words over and over as he hugged her again and took in the warm smell of her now tangled hair.
Evelyn hugged him back. She was filled with so much guilt for everything she did to him but over the years he helped her chip it away with reassuring words. He helped her understand he wasn't upset with her for anything. They helped one another grow through the obvious PSTD of war and all the shit they've gone through.
Soon enough, July 13th 2003, four years after the war had ended, Evelyn and Fred Weasley had gotten married. The two grew old together and were blessed with a set of blonde freckled twin girls named Eve, meaning 'life or living', then Eva, meaning 'full of life'. They hadn't meant to have names with practically the same meaning but it felt rather perfect.
Then, when Fred Weasley was merely the age of eighty-seven he joined his already passed wife the year prior, in heaven, along with those they'd lost throughout their lifetime.
